mystery tank.

Can anyone shed some light on what this tank is for at the bow of my NB please?

It’s empty/bone dry, definitely not connected to the diesel tank above it (because I assumed it was and now have some diesel to clean from the bilge I had almost finished prepping for paint 😅)

1.5 inches tall so some kind of skin tank perhaps?

Thanks

Although I can't see any pipe bosses, it might have been a gearbox oil cooler.

Hard to judge really, without seeing

1) All of it

2) Context, i.e. where in the boat is it?

I agree, not enough context or anything to scale from to get much idea.

To answer number 2 "...for at the bow of my NB please" (from the OP)

Thanks. That more or less rules out an oil cooler. Skin tank for a water-cooled genny perhaps. Can we see a close-up of those bolt heads on it please?

Although the general "context" supports you - a Gas Locker above a diesel tank, in the bow?
