Hello,

I’m  looking for a Boat Safety Examiner in the Banbury/Oxford area. The type that is understanding, helpful and practical rather than the pedantic make-your-life-misererable type, if folk know what I mean!

Any recommendations would be great, thank you

I think if you call the same examiner who did it last time, you at least stand a good chance of it not failing on something it passed on last time!

I think if you give the same boat to different examiners, you'll get different fail lists. Like car MoT examiners, they seem to vary in degrees of strictness in various sections of the examination.

But to answer your question, Nigel Carton (of this forum) is a good chappie, but not sure if he travels as far south as Banbury.

Unfortunately I normally would call my last examiner, but I’m several hundred miles away from there, ‘out on the network’ cruising.

New avatar Mike! What's that?

I reckon its some kind of old engine, the big brass intake thingy should be a big clue 😀

Can't quite see how many cylinders it has from that little picture.

Indeed! Bigger picture required, @MtB.

It has the correct number of cylinders...

If you visit my profile there is a massive version of the same picture :)

On a laptop maybe. On this phone I can't see anything below the pressure gauge.

Profile pictures can be scrolled...!

Or more accurately, have to be scrolled to see all of them.

It's Mark Paris. He did our last cert, and is very helpful and friendly.

+1 for Mark Parish. Pedantic over gas but generally very helpful. I can't find his number at the moment but he's listed on the boat safety pages.
