  1. The glass inspection bowl has been discussed before. http://www.canalworld.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=37945 The Delphi filter is not certified compliant with ISO 10088 so will fail BSS 2.12.3 Paul
  2. Have you had a bss inspection since fitting the filter with the glass inspection bowl? I think they are not allowed. Paul
  3. I think there must be something wrong with the aerial or plug / adaptor. I use a home made aerial (two bits of curtain pole) with an E5332 and it greatly improves the signal - green instead of orange and two more bars on the Huawei iPad app. Paul
  4. The larger 5amp round pin plugs and adaptors are readily available and are still standard fittings in India and South Africa. I bought all mine for a few rupees on a visit to India. Couldn't find any 2 amp adaptors even on eBay India. Paul
  5. Morrisons only use beef in the their burgers, no horsemeat like you southerners want. Also Morrisons chapattis are Gujarati whole meal - would give you southerners indigestion. Oh and of course the bill at Morrisons would be less so must be crap. You are right England north of Ellesmere is dreadful - best stay away. The Caledonian canal is worse. Paul
  6. Spent the evening watching one at Hopwas wood about 200m along the moorings from the school. Was a few weeks ago. Paul
  7. Only you will know if you have the skills, time and stamina to fit out a boat. It has been discussed at length on this site if you search. Unless you intend to camp out on it for several weeks (or months) it might be better to get it closer to home. Paul
  8. I am very happy with my sailaway from Soar Valley. Now fully fitted out. Paul
  9. Camouflage boat just passed Huddlesford going north towards Fradley. Paul
  10. I have one of these with a Johnson Ultima level switch. Need to remove and dry out the switch every year because the cable entry leaks. Crap and wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy. Paul
  11. Avast antivirus (free version) and win xp firewall. No VPN. Recent fdisk and reinstall so no old stuff. I do use CCleaner including occasional registry cleanup. Paul
  12. I went on the course a few years ago when Tony Brooks was doing it. Tony gave us all a copy of his excellent book which I often refer to. Paul
  13. Chrome was worse. My antivirus update kindly installed it for the umpteenth time this morning. Couldn't even get the canalworld homepage. Tried disabling all ie8 add ons, clearing cache, turning cookies on and off and deleting, turning off anti virus and no change. With ie8 I get 3 pages then the site locks up. Clear cookies, history and cache and restart ie8 and I get another 3 pages and it locks up again. Can the host isp help? Paul
  14. I don't have a dongle. Tried with my mifi and still very slow - rules out my home router settings? Tried with wired connection from laptop to the router and also very slow so not just wifi. Strange thing is that sometimes a page will open very quickly then the whole site stops working. I'm sure it's something in winxp or ie8 settings but I don't know what. Paul
  15. Me too. See my post on other topic "incredibly slow on laptop" Paul
  16. I am having same problem with a pc and a laptop using win xp. Canalworld works fine on my iPad using the same wireless network. I also am having no problems with other websites. Actually it is not getting to the homepage and index that is the problem as that works OK. Ping and tracert are OK. Problem is opening the topics. Also after 10 minutes it still hasn't signed me in yet on the laptop. Looks like a win xp issue but would appreciate a fix if anyone can find one. Paul
  17. My Barrus 40 hp is direct injection and has no glow plugs (heaters). You can start up immediately and it always does. Paul

    Dell

Dell chargers have a chip inside. If the Dell laptop can't see the chip it will not charge, just run. Paul
  19. VW diesel versions have an Eberspacher auxiliary heater so two Tourans might keep him going through the winter. Paul
  20. Who is the boat builder for CE marking / RCD compliance purposes? If it is not clear then it will be you. Paul
  21. When checking / setting the pressure in the expansion tank should you do it with the water in the system up to pump cut out pressure i.e. with taps closed and after the pump has cut out or at ambient (outside air) pressure i.e. with the taps open? I think it doesn't make any difference because the pump / gauge is just measuring pressure in the bladder above ambient? Correct? Paul
  22. Vehicle Wiring Products £2.28 http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.eu/VWP-onlinestore/fuses/holders2.php Fuse link £2.48 http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.eu/VWP-onlinestore/fuses/fuses.php#midi Paul
  23. You can use a midi fuse holder. Most are OK for 16mm2 cable and 40A fuse. Available at most chandlers or Vehicle Wiring Products. Paul
  24. Air temperature will have to be below zero for a long time before your calorifier and water tank will be affected. Quicker if the boat is out of the water. Paul
