    Chimney runs

Or you can buy a liner that fits inside a single-skin chimney and seems to work. Edited to clarify that this was a flexible liner, basically a rectangular sheet of metal that you "roll up" into a conical shape and push in the top of the flu so it would really fit any diameter.I bought it from Midland Chandlers last year but looking on their website they seem to just sell rigid liners now. Maybe you could enquire with Midland.
  2. May be something here for you http://www.bridgehousemarina.co.uk/boatthumbs.asp
  3. I find hirers usually only too keen to help, and very often are more "considerate" than some private boaters
  4. Oh dear, Carl, hope your tin hat is handy!

  6. I'm 5'9 and had plenty of room but I expect it will depend on water levels.
  7. My understanding is that the general rule is to slow down two boat lengths ahead of moored boats
  8. The good news is that the boat has now been recovered and lifted out at Preston Marina. The bad news is that it is water damaged internally. It grounded on the tidal section of Savick Brook between the junction and the sea lock due to the boat taking an accidental turn to the wrong side of the way-markers. Myself and another boat were following and we both tried to pull him off astern but he was completely grounded and the tide was ebbing. The full emergency service response was called due to the boat reported to be flooding. Happily, both occupants are ok.
  9. They can hope, but I think very quickly they will get a reality check
  10. And of course there still remains the BIG question of who pays for this new Waterways Trust. Currently all taxpayers contribute to the waterways and BW has a legal obligation to maintain the system. Will that legal obligation pass to the Trust? Is there a funding plan proposed or are we going to end up rattling collection boxes to towpath users and begging people to volunteer to help run it?
  11. Yes, Morris say that Golden Film is designed for canal boats irrespective of the engine manual's API spec.
  12. That's outrageous. Had it been a car illegally parked in the city centre it would have been removed at the speed of light.
  13. I am still unconvinced, though trying very hard to understand how this whole volunteer/ charity status arrangement is going to work and be funded. The waterways network is a complex animal when compared to, say, the National Trust. Should we trust the BW Management to have it all worked out or should be concerned? Right now I'm in the "concerned" camp but open to persuasion.
  14. Morris Gold Film is CC rated. Will this be ok if manufacturer specifies CF?
  15. I moored above the Rochdale nine in June without any problems, guess it's just a case of wrong place wrong time. Having said that, Castlefield is my preference if you can get in.

  20. That's a rip off for the relacement cassette on its own. Try here http://www.chandleryworld.co.uk/catalogue/...p5362-2240.html
  21. Robert or Andrew will deliver at Garstang on 01524 791417
  22. Moons Bridge Marina is the only other canalside pump (closed Mondays)
  23. Another vote for "3" dongle. Only very occasional signal problems when out in the sticks.
  24. Hmm. Bit of a concern if the installer's statement that "most people don't bother" (referring to earthing an inverter case) is true.
