  1. Hi Eeyore, I don't have a gauge on the panel, just a warning light and buzzer. I was going to fit a standalone gauge next to the Morse control so that I can see it whilst steering. Thanks Dave
  2. Hi, I have an Isuzu 4LC38 which only has an overtemperature switch fitted. Does anyone know where I can fit an addtional temp sensor? Also does anyone know what thread the switch is? Thanks Dave
  3. I had this problsem at the ape of Good Hope. The water point above the locks is 3/4 bsp and the one below is somewhere between 1 and 3/4 bsp. It is a new bollard (still had its protctive film on the steel) and nobody had a fitting to fit it. I reported it to CRT in June but have no idea if anything has been done, probably not.
  4. This was in the Warwick area. Not continuous moored boats. I found it easy to slow down when passing. I agree about slow rather than tick over. At tick over we hardly move. I was probably using as a way of saying quite slow. This area is mainly concrete edges directly to a gravel path and it is difficult to get the pins to grip as they tend to move in the gravel.
  5. I moored there because I was on a set of bollards with two boat lengths behind me and a winding hole before the bend and a bridge and the canal was very wide at this point. Not too close I think.
  6. Whilst in the subject of boatine etiquette. Does anybody slow down to tickover for moored boats on the Grand Union. Most people seem to be coming past at high speed and pulling out the pins, making no effort to slow down at all. We even had a Black Prince boat (Pip) come past at full throttle, hitting us and then the bank by a bridge trying to turn the bend. Rant over. Dave
  7. Thanks, I will moor overnight at the bottom of the Droitwich barge canal and leave to arrive at Bevere when it's open. Dave
  8. That has now triggered another question. Bevere lock on the Severn. Does it have specific opening times or do I need to book it? Thanks Dave
  9. Thanks everyone for the advice. Thanks Dave
  10. Hi all, I am currently in Droitwich and I will be going down the Severn to Worcester soon. When I reach the Worcester Birmingham canal entrance what is the best place to let my wife off to open the lock? Thanks Dave
  11. i went through Wast Hill tunnel yesterday. 2493m is 1.55miles. At 2mph this is 46mins. At least get the maths right.
  12. These are new signs. made to fit the front, then fitted to the sides. Dave
  13. It's happening up here on the Worcester Birminhgham canal. This was replaced with a nice shiny blue one. I took the original picture becuse I saw two CRT people with a tape measure. One to measure and one to write it down I presume. Even better the no fishing signs have been replaced. They didn't spot the post was rectangular when they made the new ones. The piece ow wood fitted as a spacer is only ply, so unless it's waterproof it won't last long. As usual it's nice to know my money is being spent carefully.
  14. Have you tried feeding the PI from the battery pack whilst the battery pack is in charge?
  15. But in most switches the moving spring usually has a contact on both sides so that contact on one side stays unused until the wire is moved over.
  16. My shower pump switch is also a domestic light switch. It was over ten years old when it failed. I bought a 2 way switch as its replacement, so that when it fails at ten years I can move one wire and use the other contacts. Inverting it of course so that it still works as down for on. Tha should get me about 20 years from a £1.50 switch. ?
  17. We had this problem. A solid board below the mattress which is on top of the toilet tank. Nowhere to vent to, so I made ai mini pallette (1 inch) to allow breathing and a spacer of perforated mdf radiator screen at the wall. Problems solved ?
  18. We had problems with a damp mattress. It was on a solid base with an integral poo tank below. I made a pallet like structure to raise it (about 10mm) and faced the wall with the hardboard with patterned cutouts used for radiator covers. No damp/mould problems since. Dave
  19. Does anyone have a stove that can take a photo of to show how the rope is fitted to the ashpan door? I have just replaced the latch on mine and if I tighten the nut up fully I can't lock the door. I think my rope is fitted wrongly and I need a photo of how it should be fitted. Many thanks in advance. Dave

  21. I had to remove mine last year. It was massively thick (ex Black Prince). I tried the black abrasive foam pads in an angle grinder. It was tougher than the pads. Flap wheel, it ate them. I used one of those scrapers with the 100mm replaceable blades. Getting the edge under the grit layer and into the undercoat worked. It took days but had to be done because of underlying rust patches. I bought 100 blades cheaply on ebay. Keeping a sharp edge edge was essential. Finished off with the foam pad and repainted. Good luck Dave
  22. When we lived in the Cotswolds we had two dogs. One started barking when the burner was turned on, one never barked at them at all. I also had a flight for a birthday present. I got to go up in the small balloon. A basket only big enough for about four passengers, great fun. My flight was just after the foot and mouth outbreak was over. It was amazing how the pilot aimed for an arable farm he new where the owners wouldn't be upset with visitors. Dave
  23. How about 2 pipes about 6 inches apart. You could then stand with one up each trouser leg. Warm air central heating! Dave
  24. Hi, I have a blocked condensate drain from my gas boiler in the house. I need to cut it to unblock it and then fit a coupling. I bought a 21.5mm coupling but it is slightly too small. It looks like normal solvent weld white overflow pipe but it is fractionally bigger. My Vernier measures the pipe at 23.3mm. Does anyone know what this is and where I can buy it? Thanks Dave
  25. I had that problem. Does yours have the square remote control with one button to flush or three buttons for long/normal flush and pump? The problem with ours was that the membrane panel in the switch was failing, generating random flushes and not wanting to flush when pressed. I reverse engineered the electronics and made my own switch box. l also discovered that the control pcb could work with either switch type, so I converted from one to three switches. Dave
