  1. Went there last week. The basin was very nice but the run in from Hawksbury is typical urban canal with a fair amount of rubbish, needs dredging as a bit shallow. An info. guide is available at the basin. The Transport Museum is close by and is excellent as well as free. I didn't see any yob or likely vandal at all, in fact all very quiet. Well worth a visit in my opinion.
  2. I have had a Waeco IU 2512 for the past 6 years with no problems at all.
  3. Anglo Welsh are not part of the ABC Leisure Group. I suggest you check the facts before posting misleading & incorrect info. on this forum.
  4. Try these links http://boatdiesel.com/Engines/engines.cfm?EQS=0711JA625C766A5660A6B254A86CB884949E7A928CAA66464AB8B2469A98AE641 http://www.dieselmarine.com/Thorneycroft/Thorneycroft.cfm
  5. Is the pump being used as a water pump to feed the taps etc or as a shower drain pump? If it is a water feed pump I am bemused that water is being pumped into the shower waste pipe. It sounds like you have a serious plumbing problem. As to the pump not priming, you may have reassembled it with one or both the valves reversed? Check that the inlet filter is not blocked and that your stopcock is fully open.
  6. I was attacked this weekend by a Moorhen !! I was entering my pontoon at Barton Marina when I spotted 5 Moorhen chicks. As I was observing them the parent appeared from under the pontoon, leapt out of the water and grabbed hold of my trouser leg with its feet and flapped its wings vigorously. I now know that Moorhens have very spiky feet!!
  7. I'm very happy with mine after 6 years use. Shoreline use two types of compressor, Danfoss BD35F and the ACC GD30FDC. Maybe these have different consumption figures.
  8. We bought some from here 6 years ago & have been very happy with them. http://www.italianfurnituredirect.co.uk/products/leather-recliner-swivel-and-classic-occasional-chairs.htm
  9. It would help if you stated what engine this was off. 3/4 thread filters are very common.
  10. It would be normal to turn the valve clockwise to close it, the same as a tap.
  11. The only director listed is Roy David Frank Rollings.
  12. Precisely why a boat hull should never be used as an earth return.
  13. If you contact Paul Baker of Service Engines UK, 07810170580 he will get you the correct part. He is a Barrus/Yanmar specialist & is familiar with Barrus part numbers.
  14. The Barrus Shire 70 is based on the Yanmar 4TNV engine. The Yanmar oil filter no. is 129150-35153 which is the same as used on the Shire 40/45. I use the Wix Equivalent WL 7107 which I get on Ebay for £5.25 inc p&p http://stores.ebay.co.uk/PREMIER-FACTORS/WIX-OIL-FITERS-/_i.html?_nkw=wix+wl7107&submit=Search&LH_TitleDesc=1&_fsub=3019303014&_sid=103538784
  15. Can you explain what you mean by 'ludicrous number of cycles please? On my Tecma I press the flush button & get 1 cycle. The amount of water used is adjustable, my guess is that mine is set to about 1.5 to 2 litres. Never had any problems with backflow as I think the 2nd part of the cycle competely clears the outlet pipe.
  16. I've had a Tecma Silence fo 6 years & not had any problems. Tecma are part of the Thetford group. Aquafax sell them, you can get a local dealer from the Aquafax link. http://www.aquafax.co.uk/html/subcategories.asp?ID=25 http://www.thetford.com/HOME/PRODUCTS/PermanentToilets/TecmaSilenceMarine/tabid/544/Default.aspx

  19. The toilets in question are the public ones outside of the boat area (locked at 5.00pm). Boaters have their own marina toilets that are accesed with a key, they can of course use the public ones. Your post infers that it is an inside job.
  20. Buying diesel from fuel boats, marinas or hire bases is the norm. Prices are variable.
  21. You should have an RCBO immediately after the inverter output. Make sure that the inverter has Earth/Neutral bonding otherwise the RCBO won't trip.
  22. I completely cured under mattress condensation with 'Dry-Mat'. It's well worth the money. http://www.shipshapemattresses.co.uk/dry-mat.php
  23. The old pumping station at Hawksbury Junction (Sutton Stop) would have topped up the Coventry originally I assume.
  24. I've got a Shire 45 that has done 1300hrs & I'm very happy with it. The only issue I've had was with the electric fuel pump which was intermittent. I change it for a Facet pump for £30 that has been 100% reliable.
  25. The Barrus Shire 45 uses the Yanmar TNV88 core engine which is 2.2litre. Link to repair manual :- http://www.martindiesel.com/Documents/New%20TNV%20DIRECT%20Service.pdf
