  1. Thanks Phylis. As always, nice photo's and well written.
  2. The section between Limekiln & Belgrave is awful. But don't let it put you off, as the rest is quite pleasant.
  3. We came up the Soar yesterday, as they were heading down. In fact they came into Kegworth Deep as we left it. It was their first day out of the marina on a 2 month trip. Hope they are both OK, I think they are probably quite shook up. I have to say that the pull of the river coming out of the Ratcliffe lock cut was very strong, and if it had been easy to turn I may well have done so, having said that it was a very pleasant trip back up to Loughborough after that one section. Chris
  4. Hello Kev,

How are you keeping? and what brings you onto this dodgy forum?

Do you have a boat or are you just thinking about, hiring etc.

We've had one for nearly 4 years now and get to use it most weekends, holidays and the like.

  5. Thanks for the great photo's Tim. Just what the doctor ordered. Chris
  6. Great photo's Matty, looks like we will have to stay in Loughboro, this weekend. Chris
  7. They are very easy to use, like most things prior planning is best. Try to picture exactly what you want to acheive before you start bending. If you can handle a 15/22mm bender you will find this a doddle. Chris
  8. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 10 posts to view.
  9. We have travelled from Keadby to Newark in one go, i.e. without stoping, in our Narrowboat. It was quite a long day but not too bad, we did this trip in early November, leaving Keadby with the tide in the dusk. Chris
  10. Hi believe that the following filters are compatible : Beta 21160210 Coopers FSM4027, FT5006 Crosland 5004 Mahle KC99 Hope this helps Chris
  11. Glad you have found the boat, even if it is in a mess. Don't be too down things will get better. Chris.
  12. Glad all went well, Merry Christmas. Go and enjoy your boat! Best wishes Chris
  13. Don't forget to check for stoppages when you finally get to head off to Pilling's, as you currently can't go via Watford / Foxton. Hope all goes well, Chris
  14. Our Beta just has bog standard metal tractor key. When we used to drive a lot of tractors, and did not have a key to hand we started them with the engine oil dip stick! not very secure, but true. Chris
  15. We have stayed overnight several times, and never had any trouble. Very handy for all local amenities. Chris
  16. This sounds exactly the same as our set up. We are very pleased with it, a great improvement to our boats living space. Chris
  17. I believe Probuild and/or the recently defunct Reeves have been building their newish boats. Chris
  18. Hi, we stayed there 2 weeks ago and it was fine. No problems, and has been said the gardens are locked at 8 PM and access is only possible with your BW key. Chris
  19. Their pricing looks to be pretty competitive too. At least on the Budget boats. Which the OP was interested in. Chris
  20. Hi, as has been said, if it is JG Speedfit, you must turn the end backnuts about 3/4 to one turn anticlockwise then push in the collar, on the end where the pipe enters the fitting. You should then be able to pull your pipe from the Tee. Hope this helps, Chris.
  21. Hi, Birstall is a good spot to overnight. It has pretty good moorings, and a good selection of Pubs, takeaways and shops all within a 5 min walk. Have a good time, Chris
  22. We are definitely not allowed to breast up on our BW mooring. Unfortunately it is stated in our terms of reference. Chris
  23. The best way I find, is to wash as usual. But I then leave hanging on the washing line for a good few days. Hopefully the dependable British weather will take care of the smell for you. Chris
  24. People must get to grips to whom this program is aimed at --- mass prime time TV audience! We all, on this forum, know that it contains numerous, geographic and timing faults. But if we were to follow them on their journey in real time, as some on here would like, we would barely make it off the Bridgewater by the end of the series. Please take it as it was aimed, to introduce the general public to the Inland Waterways, and to Britain's great Industrial Heritage. If you don't like it don't watch it, I'm sure plenty will, and will enjoy it. Chris
