  1. Chucking his raw sewage into the canal is a bit much, theres no need for that, but if he,s tipping it down a sewer then that shouldnt be a problem. The environment agency wouldnt be to pleased if its going straight into the canal, maybe you should just untie your ropes and move! Or theirs. . . ;-)

  3. mmm not sure, they did mention various boats were welded together to make one :-) my old heap made it to braunston, the old lister smokes and rattles but it keeps going :-) moored up now having a few beers :-D
  4. Something i was wondering about the other day was, why do fishermen dress up like their going on undercover sas mission, Is it so the fish cant see them ?
  5. ive had no problems when running the engine with a 1000 watt maplins inverter powering my pc, although the pc makes a buzzing noise, but i think this is because it needs a pure sine wave inverter really
  6. I'll be going if the boat makes it, ive got nb Saltair's menacing bow bearing down on me at the moment moored at long itchington
  7. I found international paint to be quite good, buy decent brushes as well, theres nothing more anoying than having brisles coming out and sticking in the paint!

  10. a boat came tearing past me the other week at kingswood junction and then tryed to turn left onto the stratford canal, no way could he make the turn, so he ended up stopping about 4 boat lengths past the junction and had to reverse :-D
  11. ive just had a quick look and theirs just a blanking plug fitted, so its got no filter at all ? not even a fine gauze filter? are the tolerances that large that any bits of metal can freely circulate with no problems Keith
  12. Thanks for the reply :-) is there an oil filter fitted to the stw2, as i cant see on one mine? Keith
  13. A new balance beam arrived at kingswood about 2 hours ago, a bw notice i spotted says it'll be fixed tonight :-)
  14. hi, i dont think its a good idea! I recently bought a narrowboat that was lined out with plasterboard, and nearly all of it was damp, i pulled all of it out + chucked it in a skip
  15. possibly.. There was a bit more to it, but it doesnt matter now as me and mr grumpy boater are now friends :-)
  16. very true, i had some very ignorant 'people' moor next to me the other night, even after a cheery wave and hello, completly blanked me. . . They of course were shiny boat people, similar to the type i met at camp hill i returned their ignorance by leaving at 4:30 am :-) i hope i didnt wake them lol
  17. Congratulations! on your totally irrational purchase of a narrowboat

  19. On the way into stratford yesterday there are some flats with a some non bw signs stating that "Canal boats, this is a residential area do not run your engines for more than half an hour" its hardly a good mooring place anyway.
  20. Do it ! I gave up fulltime work in december last year and now work a 2 or 3 day week driving hgv's, but like lucto says, hgv work is fairly easy to find as i dont think many people want to do it, working 50 + hours every week i havent regreted it yet :-)
  21. Hi, the engine making nasty sounds and then stopping isnt good, could be the piston rings breaking up and jamming themselves between the cyclinder and piston? Ive had the same happen on other engines mainly bike engines though. Good luck with it :-)
  22. i know the feeling! Theres nowhere else i'd rather be than on the canal. I did think about buying the boat you have bought, but decided it was to long for me, have you had it out of the water yet to see what condition the hull is in ?
  23. The 'permanently moored' boat has a valid paid for mooring at the camp hill site until the end of march. I suggest that you get your facts right before you post slanderous garbage on a public website. If I have the unfortunate opportunity to meet you again we will discuss this matter in person.
