  3. I've had a few comments about my (temporary) tiller
  4. I believe the acceptable term is 'serving'
  5. As far as I'm aware, there is no need to display either as your licence (for those of us that display it) has the number on. I show my BW plates because they sent them to me for £0.
  6. I had a similar problem with my 12v fridge just after I bought it secondhand for £50. It had a Danfoss Compressor and was flashing three times. I left it for a month, tried again, and it's been running for over a year since In your case, one flash is a voltage issue. Bear in mind that the motor startup current will cause the voltage to drop considerably. What size/length of cable to you have between the battery bank and fridge?
  7. Provided it is gas tight, you should pass the BSS (my suggestion would be to make the bolt-on bit small enough to hide underneath a cylinder ): 7.2.1/R REQUIREMENT LPG cylinders in a cylinder locker: Cylinder lockers have many advantages as a place to stow LPG, but they must meet certain criteria to comply with the navigation authorities’ requirements and national and international standards. LPG is one of ‘the most searching gases’ and will escape quickly from any weak point. Is the cylinder locker LPG-tight up to the level of the top of the cylinder valves or other high-pressure components? Check the extent of the LPG-tight area of all LPG cylinder lockers. Check the condition of all cylinder locker and housing bottoms and sides. Cylinder lockers must be LPG-tight to the level of the top of the cylinder valves, and other high-pressure components where these are located higher than the valves. Within the required LPG-tight area, the bottom, sides, and seams of every cylinder locker must be free of holes, cracks, damaged welds, significant corrosion, or other damage. The above requirements also apply where any part of cylinder housing forms a part of the craft’s hull or superstructure.
  8. It's not the traditional household type pump, but Eber and Webasto suitable.http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=400068176577
  9. It doesn't look that different. Just appears he's just taken off the sheets from the sides and developed a bit of a lean.
  10. My first hire was with my parents from Silsden about 12 years ago maybe. They had the little model lock back then and I think a video. Even though I was about 14, I remember being impressed with the training and general customer service from the base. The only down side was that the bog on Alacrity, the boat we hired, stank after a fortnight. It suffered from a poor pumpout at the end of week 1 (thirdparty yard).
  11. Are there any oil supply pipes anywhere in the area? One of mine (not the same engine) was rusty and developed a pinhole which did somethig similar.
  12. You weren't advocating the use of canals without paying, you said that they should be available to be used without paying. I've kept up. Maybe even a little ahead
  13. I should be able to go swimming in a publicly owned pool without paying! I should be able to use a publicly owned carpark without paying! I should be able to keep a car on a public road without paying road fund! But I keep waking up.
  14. Don't forget that if you have any batteries in the same area you MUST have some sort of ventilation for them to pass the BSS.
  15. But how do you weld on the lug without the earth clamp?
  16. I was planning on using brass strips on my visuble runners with PTFE strips on the underside of the hatch. Both held with countersunk bolts.
  17. Another vote for Wet Grab, excellent stuff.
  18. I'm not intolerant, I just don't like people enjoying themselves
  19. Slow 'em down, the people moored up will thank you for it Speedy canoes give me unexpected wobbles that are far worse than anything else!
  20. That's pretty neat though it looks like it adds a bit of length to the engine. Now all you've got to do is paint it pink
  21. Eh? I always thought they were surface mount LEDs, are they not?
  22. Keep your eyes open on eBay, I got one exactly the same as this in 'as new' condition for £50.
  23. The easiest thing to do is to locate the pump outside of the wetroom.
  24. Power showers are usually the pumped type, wheras the ones that heat the water are called electric showers. You should have no problems powering a power shower (I.E. pumped from hot/cold tank) onboard a boat.
