  1. None. But if someone is happy to sit and not pay CT, do you really think they give a stuff about contributing anywhere else? Or is it more likely they will complain about what they are not getting, over what they should be getting. The point i am making is that everyone will grumble about CRT not doing this or not doing that, whilst sitting in place and not paying their way or contributing at all (in this example).
  2. Yawn... This place is getting worse that NBW. Now if someone did something about all the boaters breaking rules, dumping kitchens in rubbish bins and generally mistreating the infrastructure, or looking at how many people live on moorings and pay ZERO council tax then i might be intrigued. But as it is its a case of 'I'm not paying more' 'Not enough maintenance is being done'. Next we will be seeing a stoppage notice count...
  3. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 10 posts to view.
  4. They probably have had people complain in the past for not sending documents to a new owner, or change of ownership... I can quite see that been a thing.
  5. Narrowboatworld and facts.... Lol.... Victor talking bollards for 25 year.
  6. Phone the freephone number, ask for the estates support in you're area - they will direct it to the right person. I cannot see CRT objecting its a minor change, within keeping and in the end will not impact on the canal. I'm assuming you have no listed structures near you and that you fall into the 'curtilage' of those?
  7. Priorities right; paying no council tax you mean.... Given its being run so well they should probably pay their way.
  8. Recast, then grooves added and then fixed? There is next to no chance that ever happened. They simply would not be removed at all, whatever condition they were in.
  9. I'm guessing you've asked for permission to work on you're boat on the mooring? And I'd guess the motorhome is taking all the space. Its called a car park for a reason. Its all smoke and mirrors saying it does not explicitly say no motorhomes, but then it does not explicitly rule out HGV either- but if someone parked a HGV everyone would complain. You live on a leisure berth, fixing up you're boat and living on the motorhome whilst you repair the boat (probably for sale) and you're pulling up CRT for enforcing the rules. Same rules you'd level on them at a drop of a hat, same rules you'd expect them to enforce on someone else doing something you don't like. Have some respect for others instead of being selfish... Only on it for a cup of tea....yeah okay then...
  10. Yes. to be fair, its did not say directly but the craft must be self sufficient and able to provide its own power. I'm not sure how you could do that long term in the UK without. But you make a fair point, I'm only half right after checking.
  11. Plus if its on a CaRT mooring, it needs to have a working engine as well (and insurance). What mooring is it?
  12. Fix more - waste less.... There we go. Cycling / Well being are what secured the grant at all without that there would be NO grant at all. You really think the income from boaters is so high that the grant is not needed. Lads on the canal, don't always know the full situation either, and more often than not give you what they think it is, not what it actually is - they just give their take on it. The grant is a real terms cut because it will not track inflation, and so the value of the grant has diminished year on year, and will continue to do so in the new grant period. You don't even know what you are on about, just spouting nonsense with Alan occasionally coming in to spoon feed you (Alan does know his onions). I cannot engage with you because you cannot be objective about it. You love a good old bash CRT story, anything that's negative sure as eggs, you're name is in it somewhere. Plenty of routes from the North to the South. But for the love of god, do not use them and stay up north. I don't need to rant, i just need to ignore you're twaddle.
  13. CRT could donate every penny it had to good causes and someone would find negative. Truth is you want them to fail. I can remember everyone saying all this about BW, and BWB before them - now all i hear is how good they were compared to CRT. Its laughable. Fit for purpose, what defining criteria would that be then? Let me guess; decrease the license fee, decrease mooring fees, make everything cheaper, reopen closed canals fix everything and add more facilities. NBW is akin to the drunk at the end of the bar - rambling wildly but not really in possession of any facts or sense. I'd rather ask my 5 year old, than take anything NBW say as 'fact', in fact anything at all. Midnight was a prolific user of NBW and its glorious but short lived forum.
  14. No, there are drug markets all over the online. Some even on the light web if you know where to look. Snapchat, Facebook, Telegram, KiK, instagram to name a few of the social media angles- there are literally millions of places with menus of the products available and delivery schemes. Hell, I've even seen some with loyalty bonus schemes. I could quite easily buy pretty much any drug i want and have it delivered to my door within 48 hours. If anyone thinks, even a small bit, that the police have a handle on this then alas they are very wrong. Has nobody stopped to wonder how the royal mail are still going... Its completely out of control in just about every way it could be. In answer to the OP. I'd be happy its only cannabis being smoked. I get for some its an odd smell, but then so was Hai karate.
  15. No, they are correct - it can be privately prescribed in flower form (Bedrocan) from loads of private clinics, subject to criteria. The NHS have issued I think 7 prescriptions in 4 years, and they openly state they will not prescribe it (its probably MP's who got those prescriptions). Thankfully, private medical practice will (for a cost). It really is a medicine for the rich Who cares if they smoke cannabis. Mind you're own. Failing that, go and tell them yourself. If they are as dopey as claimed in this thread, they won't even get up will they.
  16. The amount of times I've read that CART do nothing where i am. Nothing at all. Its laughable. Look at the accounts they publish each year. Millions gets spent, and a fair proportion of fly tipping, vandalism, people cheating etc ....Or the conspiracy theories about how its all a divide and conquer plan by CART, whilst simultaneously shouting that they are stupid, and have no knowledge or skills anywhere. Clever enough for a nationwide conspiracy, too stupid to run a business. hmmm. The reality is simple. People don't want to pay more, some don't even want to pay. Anger follows. Well, its catching up now and like you all say, no maintenance gets done. Why, because there is no money and the world is expensive. If you thought this equation could be maintained forever - then you're going to be angry now. More and more people see the canal as cheap housing. Buy a boat, any boat - Live on it. Complain profusely, you shouldn't have to pay, but use more of everything pound for pound. A wide beam is twice the size of a NB. CC use the same facilities, the same ones everyone else does for a comparable tiny fee compared to the rest. The other option is to move to land dwelling. But its no cheaper. I sympathise because times are hard, money tight but it was bound to change post grant, and its probably long overdue if you are honest about it. I'll be selling up, i can't afford it now (and it is a luxury) but at least the canal will continue.
  17. There is no way he would have known that before or even been privy to it. It was highly likely the grant would reduce; look at the current financial climate. No one really thought it would increase or even stay the same; did they? Surely not. That would be nonsensical at best, deluded at worst.
  18. There's a laundrette at Gnosall, plus several pubs and shops. Even a pharmacy but that is a good mile walk from the canal. Bus stop on top of canal bridge (navigation), route 5 goes to Stafford>Newport>Telford.
  19. Why is it too late? You can email them or call (EA). Diesel can evaporate from water, but its hardly a suitable pollution control mechanism - on still water, with limited flow I'm not sure how effective that would be.
  20. Its perfectly normal process for when the chance of contaminates is high, ergo if sent direct to a recycling facility would create a problem and may incur financial penalties. While most of us would recycle probably, a bigger group throw anything in without care therefore to avoid penalties, a mixed collection is used (sifted later). Whereas a domestic collection much more reliance can be placed on people doing it properly and bin operatives can check which provides an additional layer. This is significantly much harder when they are 1100 LTR euro bins, worse with skips. I know of people who have not had the domestic recycling bin taken because naughty things were found inside. Imagine that happening on CaRT bin compounds, the way people treat them the stuff would be thrown on the floor without care, but with several complaints attached. Plus, slightly less impactful - not all recycling facilities are the same and some can do stuff others cannot.
  21. Seems very sensible; i can appreciate a bit odd if you are simply stopping there but then, most people (and plenty on this site) would moan like crazy if the spotter just walked off without any checks. Damned if you do, Damned if you don't it seems.
  22. I struggle to see the difference between this site and NBW (Telling it like it is); some of the comments range from straight out aggressive to a joke. Not hugely surprised the OP was a long time NBW participant - Always looking for trouble and negativity from a distorted / biased view. They did the same thing on NBW forum as i recall.
  23. Its a sensible move. Non CRT employees will see different things - people always see things differently. Risk is perception based. The more people the better. Besides everyone on these pages are always grumbling that things are not right, this goes some way to resolving that.
  24. A company called open reach deal with enquiries, triaged and then passed to the relevant CRT contact - they may not know specific canal terminology. This is pretty much the same as very many companies. 48 hours is entirely reasonable. If you think otherwise then perhaps get organised and work out what you need to know ahead of time. West Midlands ambulance service deal with OOH.
  25. Really, what we do not need is the ramblings or incoherent mumblings, of more CRT bashing.... without any real fact... I'd say you are the problem. Plenty of complaining, but no ownership of anything, just a get up and walk away attitude.
