possibly too late? everything seemed to peak early this year, loads of blackberries, sloes, damsons, bullace, crab apples etc. in July/August. plus lots more folk out and about picking it all clean.

a cynical person might think it was closure by way of the side door. you plan a maintenance shutdown and close it, first assessment reveals problem was bigger than first thought, it will now cost X more millions and we just don’t have the money, stays disabled and closed as a lift but open as a museum piece for the public to look at with nice videos of how it used to work. job done.

we've been down and up it this year, and some of the gates are in v.poor repair to the point a good whack from an inconsiderate or out of control boat would destroy part of it. in fact i believe that some of the facebook scuttlebutt has it that this is what snapped the collar in the first place that caused it to need replacement and lead to the contractors dropping the gate in. other opinions are available, but CRT do love their "vandals" excuse

just be prepared for them already being sold, we were lucky when we had booked to go see a boat there that they phoned us to let us know it had just sold before we set off on the 3hr drive to view it. that is my main gripe with many brokerages, they use a medium to advertise that can be updated instantly, yet leave it weeks or months to do so.
