Yes, that is the order we went into and out of the locks. The problem isn't being hit on entry but by being crushed when the lock is filling, no matter how slow we filled it. It is not an experience I want to try again as an experiment, the crshing and cracking noises are something I don't want to hear again

Sorry, this doesn't work with a short fiberglass boat and a long metal boat, I will never share a double lock with a long metal boat again. I'm not happy playing the role of a fender

Hence "may" Theoretically You can tow 1750kg with a "new" licence, If you really wanted to I'm sure you could find a trailer that weighed under 400kg that had a mam of 1500kg, we have achieved it with a car and trailer "combo". I have a Wilderness boat, like it a lot, It comes in at just under 2 ton with the trailer.

A quick google says a shetland 4+2 is1100kg so may come in at under 1500 with a trailer.

No implication, Just a fact, that maybe useless or useful to somebody wanting to tow a boat with a car

You can still tow 1.5 tons with a new licence with the right tow car.
