  1. Offensive language, abuse and threats of violence or damage are reportable to the Police. So record the tirade and then report them.
  2. What a stupid comment!! The LVA locally have said they have seen a GROWTH in customers since the smoking ban was introduced in Wales, after an initial drop, and a new pub has just opened in town. No-one has stopped anything else, as far as I can see. As for The Anchor in Diglis, I suspect it is now in the wrong place, as there have been lots of "wine bar" type flats built in the area, plus an influx of somewhat less salubrious "residents" put into a few flats around the inner basin. (We used to live in Worcester!!)
  3. The "bedroom tax" applies to ANY housing where the resident is in receipt of certain benefits.
  4. Shame you are in Essex, as I have over 20mtrs of suitable white climbing rope going spare! Isn't spliced into a ring though.
  5. Welcome back, Linzi. Please stay around and ignore the non-sayers on here. They can't help it!!
  6. Actually it could be A to B on a Welsh canal.......................................Abergavenny (well the outskirts, ish) to Brecon................. I'll get my coat.
  7. Appears to be this one: http://goo.gl/maps/BPw2O Looks like it is at the very end of the canal.
  8. Is the "No Mooring" sign official or just from the house owner?
  9. Here you are. Mike, some more details for you: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-oxfordshire-15632994
  10. How many people realise that if they moored up properly then boats moving passed them at any pace wouldn't bother them?
  11. Both, that way you get a through draft of air.
  12. I think the Lion Quays has free wifi for customers.

  15. The advice in the dim-and-distant-past was always to do the Cheshire Ring clockwise as that way you were working up the Rochdale 9 and could use the boat to help you open the gates, plus as above.
  16. Any body want three Corris railway wagon wheels? The Corris Railway Socirty would love them!!
  17. The pump isn't "working in a strange way"!! It is doing it's job as it is designed to do. Your old pump had a by-pass that didn't need an accumulator. This pump does not have the by-pass and therefore needs an accumulator. An accumulator is basically a small round reservoir with a bladder across the middle. As the water gets up to pressure it pushes the bladder up, then if the pressure drops slightly the bladder pushes some water into the system to compensate. Basically you bought the wrong pump!
  18. Neither boat photos are really good enough for anyone here to give you an absolute answer to your question. The only answer is for you to either inspect the boat or ask the sellers a direct question, and hope you get a sensible answer.
  19. Perhaps the grain came in by horse drawn cart from the local farms and was transhipped into the canal boats?
  20. If it is GRP or plastic you are going to have a problem. You might get away with Plasticote but I doubt it will wear very well. If GRP you could possibly put a coat of clear resin over the top.
  21. Did you check what was in those envelopes? How do you know they weren't letters explaining how the scheme will work? Making a slightly large presumption, aren't you?
  22. Whilst the article is unpleasant, I do think Dean that you need to tone down your rant. That is not racist as boating is not a "race" in that sense. The article is biased and unrealistic and prejudiced. RACIST: noun[mass noun] the belief that all members of each race possess characteristics, abilities, or qualities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races: theories of racism prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one’s own race is superior:a programme to combat racism
  23. If you are thinking of stopping here, by Jones Rd: http://goo.gl/maps/553cb and then turning around, forget it! Not possible, as there is not the width. In fact I don't think there is anywhere on the 21 that you can wind. There is a boat club type place at Oxley Moor Rd with a bus stop almost outside, or moor at Autherley Junct, as previously suggested.
  24. Not as long as walking to the top! It is a long time since I've walked that bit but the tow path isn't in bad nick. Not sure I'd leave a boat around the bottom lock though At least if you moored at Autherley and got a taxi you could have a few bevvies!
