  1. I thought they had always banned mooring along that stretch because of the SSSI.
  2. An explanation of the above might be useful! To me it looks like a group of workmen building a float for possible maintenance.
  3. Well I have never seen a "red route", marked with red no parking lines, outside of London. Note I do live outside that conurbation!
  4. What an interesting first post!! Cynical, moi??
  5. "Red Routes" are the (supposed) Urban Clearways into London.
  6. Sorry, but that comes across as blatant nimbyism.
  7. Perhaps the OP wants to rebuild the Croydon Canal
  8. Is everything a "rip off" to you? A business has to buy the equipment required, has to service the equipment, has to pay wages, insurance and probably has to pay for the disposal of the excrement. Do you expect them to do it for nothing?
  9. This is still for sale, and I'm open to offers http://www.canalworld.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=64602&hl=

  13. If you are "doing" Dudley Castle and Zoo, then you have also got The Black Country Museum, with beer, old fashioned chip shop and a sweet shop, and the Dudley Tunnel trip. So that's 3 things all very close together. Plus you could easily get to Cadburys World for more "sweet sensations"

  15. A photo might help, but if the knurled nut is on the outside that probably hints that it releases inwards
  16. Wasn't there a thread earlier this week of a cruise around some of them?
  17. I thought riparian rights didn't apply to canals? Back on topic. Has there been an exodus today? Or are the residents still following the "advice" of PL and ignoring the threat by CaRT?
  18. Rubbish! From my experience a 60' boat was actually easier than a 40'.
  19. Re electric supply. In a house you have almost limitless power whereas when hooked-up to your marina outlet you will be limited to the maximum amps of that outlet, which may be considerably less.

  21. Oh grow up! My son does exactly the same job as you, then comes home to his young 2 children, helps to look after them, does his garden, helps with his children's school, helps with other community things and still finds time to enjoy himself. Boating is very much a "Community" thing especially in some marinas and you will be expected to "do your bit". If you don't you are very quickly going to find that you will be considered the lazy young brat who no-one will want to help, advise or speak to.

  23. I presume that FlipTop is a member and supporter of the "body" that published the abysmal article
  24. Surely it depends on exactly what was used and how well it was done? What condition are the anodes in? What has the surveyor said?
