  1. Just thought i'd resurrect my old post to give you dudes an update! Old batteries came out - they were about 65kg each and ended up being milk float batteries... poor Jon nearly did himself an injury getting the buggers out...... New batts (slightly smaller in size thank god!) in, wired up and working well.. BM1 monitor doing its thing fine.... Solar doing as well as it should in November! Water pump replaced and no leaks anywhere.... Sat on towpath (in warm bote!) having taken a week away from our mooring as it looks like we'll be stuck for three months ish from Jan 3rd when CRT start work on Bridge 6. Feeling very happy and almost smug, it's been an utter swine of a year for us (family bereavements etc.) and i can't wait to see the end of it - but we have achieved quite a lot notwithstanding, and i'd just like to send out a big thank you to everyone who contributed help and opinions and laughs on this forum. ??
  2. Sounds like an awesome idea.... we will certainly consider doing this in the spring, whenever they re-open our canal after the winter stoppage! ?
  3. That’s brilliant everyone; thanks loads.. ? Set at 400..
  4. Cheers Rusty - was sure you had one too! In parallel - x2x12v - 12v system...
  5. So having changed the leisure batteries and reconnected everything - all good ? Read the bm1 manual about how to set it up again, and am confoozed about setting the battery capacity. Each of the new batteries is a “nominal” 220ah - do I enter 220 or 440 into the battery capacity setting? Cheers in advance! ?
  6. Indeed - t’cake were all soggy and t’water all cake-y! ?
  7. Yesterday we changed the Leisure Batteries and the water pump.. the water pump was a piece of cake but the batteries turned out to be Milk Float batteries which imho come in around 60kg... sure made the 46kg replacements feel light tho! Btw, that looks awesome! I’d kill for a proper engine room.... ?
  8. Always worth changing the reg and pipe at this price, with a gauge too! https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F152685368238
  9. How did you get ahold of my latest passport photo!!??!!??!! ?
  10. Gotta b the most foolproof solution yet! Although having no dog, I can reasonably gauge the cabin temp by how cold my ears are... any yes I do have hair thank you!!!
  11. The thread on the plastic on mine was fine - just full of pointless PTFE gunk... wot is the “proper cone end fitting” plz...? Cheers!
  12. Very good indeedy!! Was surprised there was no washer - or traces thereof - the bloke wot did the original fit-out was pretty good... But hey - at least he made sure there were access hatches everywhere needed! ETA particular thanks to MTB.. ?
  13. UPDATE TIME! had the thing apart and cleaned it up and...... THERE WERENT NO WASHER AT ALL!!! ? Said washer acquired and fitted and no more leak - no PTFE needed as threads were fine... many thanks to all! ????
  14. Can’t really help - but you have my every sympathy being also up at 4am worrying at a problem.. 6a multi point supply does seem awfully small... Deffo what rusty says above! Hope your stove is roaring and your tea is steaming... ?
  15. Mr Bizz may have a point - but I think the distortion is just that the gland (?) going into the bottom of the bolt is loose! Possibility - the PTFE was a bodge to get around the cross-thread or miss-matched thread (previous owner installed this!) Possibility - neoprene washer is FUBAR due to my over tightening.. possibility - both of the above! cheers gang... will investigate when it’s light... bloody shift work has one up n musing over a cuppa t at some odd times in the morning!
  16. Thanks for all your thoughts guys, especially Mike - the placement of the ptfe was not making any sense to me! I will further investigate in the morning... thanks again! Xx
  17. We tightened it and it got worse!!!! No sinking tho - water is isolated from tank atm... wasn’t going out to work with that leak still going! ?
  18. As title.... The blimmin’ joint is leaking.. sigh... the good news news is I found the leak the evening we passed our Bss! ?? ...or does the panel think it may be fixable with some PTFE tape....
  19. Wow thanks - we go past here loads.. never knew it looked like that!
  20. Actually I think this one is better - more “atmospheric” somehow...
  21. Mine too! I watch it when I’m a bit low and thing are getting to me... chill... ?
  22. Now THATS wot I call a tunnel! Kinda xpecting a three headed dog somewhere towards the end.... ?
  23. This is awful, Nigel; there are no words... plz keep us updated.
  24. Very true! Hinckley and Bosworth did try to up my mums CT after a change in her circumstances (my dad died) cos that was my and the OH’s registered address. A phone call and a chat with a very sympathetic lady (“oh, you live on a boat - how wonderful!”) and the matter was sorted inc backdating very quickly.. depends which council you’re dealing with!
  25. Caledonian is on my list - but then so is the whole European canal system! Would love to hire a boat on the River Lot around Cahors way in France. It’s not accessible from the main system so hireboat is the way.. anyone done it? ?
