  1. Yes, the stoppages around the East Mids are a bit of a pain. We are going to have a bit of a jolly up the Ashby by way of a diversion.
  2. We use coal all the time as I cannot really be arsed to cut and store wood. Generally buy from the fuel boats where possible as I like to support the canal traders.
  3. What you are, dear chap, is clearly a man who keeps his own council!
  4. Having gone to all the expense of overplating, assuming that the boat had been shot blasted at the same time. It would sound like a good idea to epoxy black if possible.
  5. South dock marina, Surrey Quays may be worth a look.
  6. Plusgas, much better then WD40 as a penetrating oil.
  7. Always had very pleasant service from the guys at Braunston.
  8. All circuit breakers on domestic system. Yes, spare fuses for the engine.
  9. As the title, what do you consider is essential to carry with you? For me it's: Alternator belts, Oil filter, Fuel filters, Engine oil, Stern gland grease, Water pump, Anti freeze, De ionised water, Electrical connections various. Selection or jubilee clips.
  10. Well, that's three of the five accounted for.
  11. Cariad is also Dave Clarke/bridgecraft and pretty solid. We like it!
  12. It could make a sweet little boat. Would be interesting to see an ultrasound report on the baseplate just to see if it as bad as Wayne thinks.
  13. No doubt about it, solid fuel is the way to go but the Alde is great for some instant heat or a top up of the hot water. I don't even leave the pilot alight, it's so easy to light from scratch.
  14. That's a bugger, I have only just seen this thread. If you have a change of heart, I have a welder/generator and could probably help.
  15. How old is it? Presumably, it is not designed to have heaters so it may be better to get the injectors reconditioned first. I think I would start with a compression test. Cross posted with Tony!
  16. Very nice too! Days like this are indeed priceless.
  17. Because it is just possible that they may have the boat you are looking for.just has to be aware that they they will play down any problems and are sparing with the facts. If a potential buyer is new to boating, make sure that you are accompanied by a person who knows what they are looking at.
  18. I assume that these are the "Professionals" don't come across many volunteers with their own tracked chipper.Elf and safety would have a field day with that shower. It's not as if they don't know they will be working over water. Still, they make a good set of images on how not to do it!
  19. I would avoid using Radweld as it just starts to block up the engines water paths. Have you checked the radiator cap on the heat exchanger. These get tired and start to let by as the pressure increases as the engine warms up. Is there any signs of water in the engine oil or a creamy emulsion in the rocker cover? This may identify a head gasket problem. Is there a drain valve on the engine block that is letting by? What about the water pump, any signs of leakage there?
