Having spoke to a few surveyors recently I am wondering what other peoples experience is with the speed of pitting on a modern steel boat or a newly over plated boat that is plugged into shore power or moored next to other boats that are plugged in? Is it true a hull can be completely shot in less than 18 months? Could pitting happen as quick as 6 months? I ask as I am researching galvanic isolators. thanks.

Why assume anything in the 1st place? I unlike some other people do not use the open forum to air my arguments and disagreements with others where younger members may be exposed to adult language. For example why would you ask someone if they had a spine from the comfort of your keyboard other that the fact the comment is relevant to yourself by your own action of such assumptions! Its inflammatory and you do it because you can get away with it online. I couldn't care less what judgement or comments like ''dont you have a spine'' people make from the comfort of a keyboard miles away while being all high and mighty without a damn clue of what the whole argument was that has been misrepresented in the 1st place. I have noticed there are flexible flu collars on some boats and wondered why you would use one of these rather than a thick cast flu collar? Do they have better heat protection as I notice similar things are used on yurts?

How much are the glow plugs out of interest as the boat I've just put a deposit on has a cold start problem too and I wont know the full extent until the mechanic looks at it this week. So I am kind of bracing myself hoping its something like a stuck starter motor just needing a slap with a spanner ect.

Thanks so once the brackets are stuck down are there some kind of security bolts/nuts that you use to fix the panel to the brackets or do you use sikaflex on those too?
