  1. Pumps fastened to unit connected by short rubber pipe,I have wondered are coolant pipes the right way round at unit is it drawing the coolant from the radiator circuit and not direct from the header tank ?
  2. I bought a kit off eBay with a second hand webasto and the bucket of water and a funnel to bleed was the method I used to make sure the unit worked before going to the time consuming job of fitting. At least it should prove if in fact the unit is faulty or if it is the way the unit has been installed. My own webasto system was then installed knowing what air locks can do and ran without bleeding at all due to the way the header tank and location of the units and pipes.
  3. This is from the manufacture fault finding site The installation location of the heater should be as low as possible to ensure self-venting of the heater and circulation pump. This applies in particular to the circulation pump (Thermo Top E and C only), which is not self-sucking. The circulation pump may be installed in the location provided on the heater or remote from the heater integrated in the coolant circuit. The correct direction of flow through the heater must be observed (coolant outlet on top, coolant inlet on bottom), otherwise malfunctions may result. Are you sure that the pipes are also the right way round connecting to system
  4. Said it was air at the start drop the webasto unit so it is near the floor it’s only three screws to do this as the exhaust and fuel pipe will bend this will make it so the water pipes supplying unit are not going uphill to unit getting rid of air traps
  5. Yep creeping crack cure works for me on my hatches no leak at all and had tried lots of things my hatch is above the bed so know it has worked
  6. I would move the webasto unitlow as possible so the rubber pipes are not going uphill to the unit exhaust if on a flexible pipe, fuel line will bend easily five minutes job and try running it again should help with air locks?
  7. As above this is how I tested mine before fitting to boat I just put a funnel via a pipe to inlet pipe and the outlet pipe into a bucket and the just kept filling the funnel with water till I was happy with the running on the unit,As I have said before if it does not see water then it will go through a test cycle and stop secret is a good high header tank and we’ll bleed system
  8. Shut again temporarily repair has not worked bosley lock chained off
  9. I’ve had the email as well wondering how many have had it
  10. Agree cannot tell off pictures but the outlets look high if there’s no diesel when the union is loose and tap open it will never work
  11. Loosen the union at the tank if no diesel flows out problem is at tank if diesel flows out try disconnecting pipe at pump should come out there if gravity fed
  12. If there is an air lock in cooling system they run through the start process pump running then shut down so make sure coolant system is free of air
  13. Normally can see soot from leak another way on cars to locate leak is to get someone to lightly hold a rag over exhaust outlet which increases exhaust pressure for a few seconds at a time while you look and listen for leak
  14. Walk through doors each end and look at full height plastic tile faced sheeting works out quite cheap
  15. Live local and never seen Bugsworth basin full unless an event on and still managed a space even then..as above as you turn at the t junction to go to basin mooring on the right is a good spot as well
  16. I fitted a victron 712 thought I had a drain on my battery’s but I had to charge batteries till full make sure everything was off including solar panel input and waited an hour and reset worked fine since.
  17. What I was thinking was that by switching between shore connection to inverter or generator position with shore line connected would I cause any damage to the switch or worst current flow while switching over. I do have a galvanic isolator.
  18. By underload the only thing drawing current is the mains fridge so I should turn that off at its socket switch first
  19. Looks like to be safe I still have to unplug the lead then
  20. In the day I run the mains electric via an inverter using the solar power. At night I switch back to shore power is there any need to disconnect the shore power lead before turning the three way switch between the different positions? Can I just leave the shoreline plugged in have been told leaving it in can cause arcing across contacts of switch when switching over. What do others do please.
  21. This is the chaps email who runs the forum trevork52@btinternet.com very helpfull
  22. The idle speed seems to be as low as I am going to get it Sam it goes in gear without any clunks or rattles which on internet searches seems to be a known problem with these box also some searching on the internet say that you set them at 800rpm in gear they sell kits to make it a soft change which look like little water accumulators which act as a delay when going in gear. It is a 100% improvement wish I had done this when I bought the boat.
  23. Just an update to removing system off my boat. I have now managed to remove the system off the boat after the helpful comments off the forum and a phone call with someone boater Sam recommended. The trolling valve came straight off looping the pipe back to the gearbox only thing needed was a blanking plug for an oil return pipe at the gearbox. A bracket was made to connect the throttle to the pump and with a little bit of fiddling the boat now idles at 800rpm and will rev to 1,700 rpm. The wiring seems to have been aftermarket fitment to the beta build and the loom for the trolling valve came out easily once the feed wire was removed. I have had the boat five years and on driving it without the trolling valve it steers and drives so much better. With the trolling valve fitted you had to run the boat at 1,500 rpm now just above idle is three mph. There is a different controller for without trolling valve on the gearbox but if seems fine on the one fitted at the moment also when I get the number off the prop crowthers have said they will advise over the prop, as I was warned that it might struggle or be over propped.
  24. Always helpful nothing but praise for them
  25. I have used bar keepers on some black spots which on removal of the vanish were very bad on a vertical surface. Mixed it to a paste left it on for a couple of hours and have a 100% success. Thanks to the recommendations of barkeepers on here.
