  1. Come to think of it I am drinking to that, cheers
  2. Well said , as a new member you quickly learn to ignore some of the aggressive or arrogant postings (but sometimes they make the best reads) however there is some good stuff and genuinely helpfully people on here.
  3. When converting our boat , we had one fitted but between the purchase and fitting they stopped making our model , so quickly bought spares, the tanks fill up quickly so we turned down the water to minimum and bought another spare tank, very expensive. It's working ok but the the pump is noisy . in hindsight I wish I had not been persuaded and bought a thetford with a china bowl, cheaper and less to potentially go wrong.
  4. Yes easily in a week it's a lovely loop, but beware the trap of assuming every day is a sunny day - although I hope it is as I'm taking a gamble and stopping work and going boating for 4 -6 weeks and then who knows.....

My ignorance how do you post a picture ?
  7. Please send picture of boat..........
  8. I've got a 3 Dongle wired into a small roof aerial and then a globe surfer wifi router, gives me wifi through the boat. Reception is normally pretty good.
  9. Of course if the canals were dredged to anything like there designed depth there would be few problems. It's also to do with the swim of the boat my full length. Woolwich disturbs less than some more modern boats despite being of deep draft. However this ongoing draught is helping the water levels n the Foxton area.
  10. Can't help with where to stay but yes it's the best convelesence you can have. I had a major Op at the end of 2010 and the only thing that drove me was to be fit when the conversion work on our boat was finished. Instead of long days we are doing very short trips and enjoying our time. Will be finishing work at he end of May to spend months rather than weekends to get mind and body together, will worry about the pennies later.

  12. If it helps my previous boat wax 1936 with wooden top, and a lister HA3 air cooled which never let me down. I had the base plate over plated using word of mouth recommendations and used a young welder then a survey. About 12 years ago had new sides using water resistant ply (can't remember the name used for high class concrete finishing) it was just getting tired a couple of years ago. Don't be scared of it but it will need fairly constant upkeep normally reflected in the price.

  14. Yes I had them installed when we had ours converted for water and fuel tanks much better than my old piece of marked cane.
  15. Perhaps the welding on the cage was suspect.......

I had to go to Addenbrokes every day for 6 weeks for radiotherapy , i made my wife wait outside as it was so depressing seeing all these poor souls in various stages of cancer treatment, but I agree with Chertsey no point in stopping at that stage.
  24. Definitely agree hire first even if it's only for a weekend.
