  1. Yes, the template for the forum needs changing which hopefully is something Rich can easily fix.
  2. I would go with the Caldon, unless the cut is frozen.
  3. I expect something in the theme is set to be much wider than 1440 and therefore causes the bottom scroll bar to be displayed. Looking in the CSS there is a width of 8915px on the ID arrowchat_base so this may be the culprit. @RichM may be able to investigate and fix. I've just done a quick test with the IE developer tools and if I disable the width setting on arrowchat_base I lose the sideways scroll bar. It appears to be defined with different values on different pages but all more than my 1440 pixels wide screen.
  4. There was another thread about stop gates not that long ago. There are gates on a number of the bridges on the Worcester Birmingham.
  5. Go for the early 6:30am start and reverse back making sure you bounce off at least one boat. That's what someone did to us.
  6. Joe Hollingshead is the same, he may not be able to read and write but he can certainly count when it comes to money.
  7. We took the current cushions to Wilsons as that was easiest for us otherwise they would have come out to the boat and measured up. I'm not sure I would have wanted to provide the measurements myself especially as our cushions aren't simple rectangles.
  8. We had our seats (base and backs) on the dinette recovered by Wilsons as we wanted to match the fabric on the chairs we purchased from them. As the foam had gone soft in the bases they were replaced at the same time. This cost around £400.
  9. One with a couple of cylinders as it wasn't originally a horse boat.
  10. Or what we did last year, Catherine de Barnes to top of Farmer's Bridge, then top of Farmer's Bridge to Drayton Manor the next day (we actually went to Fazeley Junction).
  11. Yes, we have an old radio in the cabin of Scorpio although it isn't in working order. There are electric lights as well.
  12. Depends what they are replicating as there were working boats with electric lights fitted.
  13. Which connector type does it use...? I have an Huawei mifi (can't remember model number) and an external aerial with TS-9 connectors but the fit is very poor so I was considering getting a new one with CRC-9 connections but not sure what the Huawei actually used as couldn't find it documented anywhere.
  14. Personally I would go up the Caldon as long as you don't mind not seeing any other boats moving as it is generally very quite. A couple of nice pubs up there, plus a staircase although not as daunting as the one you remember from Chester. If you made good time down to Harecastle you could always keep going and do the Four Counties ring, that is how we ended up doing the Four Counties the first time. The plan was a short out and back but we so underestimated how far we would go each day that after the second day it made sense to carry on round the ring.
  15. As others have said the signal between your mifi and the mobile network is nothing to do with the marina WiFi or the channel they are using. Weather conditions can impact mobile signals due to the way they travel through the air.
  16. We've moored and used the Boat Inn, it gets very busy. Each time we've eaten there the meals have been fine and not too expensive so good if you there are a number of you.
  17. There will be a new rule of not taking the sheet outside of the cabin.
  18. I'm sure Team Vulpes will be back and if Titford is the finish again we have our plan B route from this year to try which doesn't involve legging Dudley tunnel though it does have a different challenging element.
  19. I misread the OP and just saw Oxford.
  20. You could try one of the local alternative numbers shown on this web page https://www.police.uk/contact/#alternative-numbers I presume Thames Valley covers Oxford, their number is listed as +44 1865 841 148
  21. I lifted a dog out of the canal the other day which was hard enough. The dog had jumped in chasing ducks and although it wasn't a really big dog it was still quite heavy once it was soaking wet, the lady walking it wouldn't have been able to manage to get the dog out.
  22. We have a trad stern with oversized hatch so two of us can stand there. Engine is under the floor not in a separate room and morse control not speedwheel and gear wheel/rod. I do steer proper trad trads though with engine room and proper controls. Whilst I like the engine room I'm not convinced it is a must for a leisure boat. However I always prefer a trad stern as I don't like the openess of a semi-trad or cruiser stern. When we hired I found having the family sat out on a cruiser stern tended to end up with chairs in the way whilst trying to steer.
  23. Looking much the same yesterday as we came past.
  24. That price is a good guide, ours depended on number of colours, coach lines, signwriting, etc.
