  1. How this going to apply to people like me that have a “high use” mooring I wonder?? The boat is my main residence but I’m not a CC. I wonder if anyone has thought about this? There’s plenty like me at this mooring alone.
  2. Only a fool would be fitting a new hearth and flue pipe in august so couldn’t light a fire……😳😳😳
  3. Rumour has it that CRT are working on a temporary fix and if successful Lock 7 should be open sometime today...I have to say Im glad they are trying to fix it ...even if it doesnt last then at least they are making some progress...fingers crossed all round.
  4. Latest reports are it’s really good with latest landlord
  5. Please dont suggest it......
  6. They have asset inspectors.....they just dont seem to react when items are flagged....do you think volunteer ones will be a cure for that? Oh and FYI I already volunteer for the trust...do you?
  7. I hope some form of temporary repair might be thought about but it seems no one is left with any knowledge to realise whats happening until its too late these days

  12. Unashamed plug!! Ive still got this for sale.....and it will take an electric outboard or a small petrol unit
  13. I’ve got a 1983 Mike Heywood that I’ve had for 30 years like that. Makes a small compact wet room bathroom. And modern epoxy paints solve a lot of issues. Mines also 50ft with a JP2 and a back cabin etc.
  14. I recently had great service from them having a 20 plus year old DCM battery meter fitted with a new rotary selector and an unusual problem caused by a faulty thermistor sorted. They seem to now have one tech chap.
  15. I first met Jim when he was recommended as a surveyor when I brought my boat from Cowroast 30 odd years ago & I was a young green 21 year old…he took his time with me and explained what was what…we then met many times over the years at various rallies and pubs…he was the cause of a few hangovers! Sadly altzhimers took its cruel toll in later years but when we were just out of lockdown and we arranged a meet up at his house he met us at Wardle lock like the Jim we all knew….he was in his element when a boat was involved. I’m going to miss him…I now often past where Elizabeth is moored with her new owners and think Jim would be happy that she is now being well looked after…his character will live on. We once met him in Berko when travelling south to winkwell and paired up…he was lockwheeling on his trusty bike and his first wife steering Eileen…we never even got close to doing that time again…a truly excellent short trip!
  16. If CRT want the support of boaters then I strongly suggest they don’t see them as a cash cow to be milked dry. If they keep them as is then they will have a fair amount of people on their side. Start heavy increases and expect a massive backlash and zero support. I personally have little faith in CRT senior management at present.

  19. The underside of my floor was painted with what looks a lot like bitumen….40 years later it seems to still be working!
  20. Alternator RPM is rarely engine RPM. Measure the size of the engine pulley and the alternator pulley to work out the ratio and you will know what rpm the alternator is doing for what engine rpm.
  21. I’m guessing those that buy from towpath tat merchants are rarely boaters as they always seem to want the prime moorings reserved for them meaning there’s nowhere to actually stop if you did want some overpriced trinkets.

  24. Panic not. Just had a reply to my email…apparently being part shipped tomorrow so fingers crossed….
  25. You need to open the access hatch. Clean the tank by removing the old paint and getting rid of the rust..usually by scraping and maybe using vactan. Then repaint using either water potable bitumen or a suitable potable water two pack. It’s not a too bad job if you keep on top of it and do it every few years….if you leave it it’s not as much fun.
