  1. I think I've got that, where do I get this packing rope?
  2. How does one repack a stern gland. Does the boat have to be out of the water? What's involved and what is used to repack it? Mines pouring in like a tap.
  3. Let's hope not. As he cannie do newt aboot that.
  4. My first ever go at navigating a boat, was bringing our boat all the way from The Gloucester & Sharpness to Rodley Leeds. I was quite proud I'd got almost all the way to Rodley, without even touching another boat. Especially Middlewich, where we had navigate in the night, through a very narrow area with loads of moored hire boats, which were moored up for the winter. Almost got there, but got caught out at the top of Bingley five rise, by strong cross winds which blew me sideways, slightly rubbing down the side of another boat. p'ed me right off, that did.
  5. From his profile... "Interests Old historic boat . And running my boats that's full time not got much time do much else" You've got plenty of time to do 'much else' now you sick ****!
  6. What about just finding a suitable area to moor the boat near some woods with a bit of level ground? That's what we did the other night, proper camping with a nice campfire. It was great.
  7. Got bitten last night. I'm always getting bitten, and always seem to react badly to them. Some nasty little thing managed to get up inside my jeans, and got me right behind the knee joint, my legs now swollen up and I can't bend my knee anymore, This morning I noticed a red line spreading up my leg, and have had this before with a bite on my hand, so knew what was happening. Anyway been to the emergency docs, and been prescribed some antibiotics the red line has now taken over the entire inner thigh, looks horrible and feel the same! The doc did say, taking vitamin b12 keeps them away. So will be trying this, this summer. Amazing what a tiny little bug can do.
  8. what's the stern tied up with, a shoelace?
  9. I once seen a boat within a boat at Woodlesford. Think that was over 74ft when they were both connected.
  10. We have a cruiser stern, with a long tiller extension bar and can do the same. Great sat out on the back in the summer.
  11. If you bid and won something on Friday, then went away for the weekend without letting the seller know when he may be paid for his item. I'm not surprised, I'd have done the same.
  12. Wait until you have to empty the cassette.. and drop the screw on cap thing down the elsan. Come back then and report..
  13. Just roll up stick your boat in it and crack on with the blacking or what ever. No doubt some bloke in a high viz coat will come out of the hotel with a freshly printed and laminated load of tosh telling you, you can't do that. Just ignore him and crack on. Then just sail off into the sunset when you've done.
  14. Is this on 4 od or been uploaded to youtube? Wouldn't mind watching it but struggling to find it..

  18. How do you know it was a glory hole, and not just a hole? Oh hang on a minute, I don't actually want to know the answer to that...
  19. Not much sympathy from myself.. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2544698/Petty-criminal-drowned-canal-mugging-victims-pushed-trying-defend-themselves.html
  20. It can be done on your own, but It's hard work on your tod. Especially if there's any swing bridges to contend with.
