  1. I don't have a manual but have just located one on Google so will read... So if I open the cap fully more water will gush forth? How do I get the air out of the system? Bleed the rads? And did I cause it by trying to open when engine was running?
  2. Hi all, So I have a webasto that heats radiators and water. I don't use it much but with the cold snap coming I thought I should fire it up. So on friday I went to check if the water level was correct in the header tank, when I unscrewed the cap water squirted out of a brass valve that is beside the cap... I realised that likely happened because at the time I was running the boat engine which also heats the water. So I tried again today when everything was cold and still the valve squirted when I undo the cap. I can understand when there was hot water in the system but when everything is cold? Why o why???
  3. It was gifted to me, thats helps it be amazing in my eyes. If I was buying (with canal hoisting in mind) I would go for the ruffwear.
  4. I have one and I love it. Ive used it to pull daft dog out of canal and twice Ive somehow managed to catch hold of the handle just before she hit the water. Its also very handy when for example she tries a lie down protest when leaving the park, I can pick her up and set her on her feet! But I would not use it to actually pick her up with as you have discovered its really quite easy to slip out of. Ive been lucky when pulling her out of water with it, it was a race against time to catch hold of her backend before she slipped out. This looks brilliant, more straps round the body and handle further back so they dont tip when you lift em. I want one!
  5. People who have friends, family and a job in london for a start!
  6. I stayed on a boat with what seemed to my untrained eye to be a full size piano. I have no idea how they got it on the boat though sorry. Garden, your roof? small but you could certainly get some herbs and whatnot on the go.
  7. 1. Steel doors and perhaps window guards of some kind... dont forget about fire escape route though. 2. Read this forum and then view boats to put your knowledge into practise, you will soon figure out the basics and learn all sorts you never knew you needed to know. 5. The first boat I cruised was a 70ft, it is soo much easier than a car and you will figure it out as your go, lots of people single hand. If you are near a canal perhaps put a notice up asking for someone to take you along on a short cruise. Boaters are friendly and Im sure you would find someone. Go and hang around a lock and watch and see how they work, again get chatting and you will likely get to have a go yourself. 6. will happen at some point, again boaters very friendly and if you ask you will get help. Good luck and dont be nervous
  8. http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&_nkw=presawash&LH_Complete=1&rt=nc About 30 quid seems average, so not so expensive but they dont often come up... Let me know if you want to sell yours. ha yeah blood sweat and tears a bit dramatic perhaps
  9. I spent some time in a bulgarian house, I was far too tall for this house, I developed a way of walking where it looked like I was searching the floor for something and had a multi coloured forehead thanks to the doorways.... you would think pain is a teacher eh, I was a slow learner! ouch So it is manageable to have such a short amount of clearance.... oooh giving me hope its fairly normal sized at the moment but may swell with pride should I ever find my boat... I have heard pride comes before an ouch moment I was wondering about thepracticalities of lowering the floor, guess for that I would need a butchers under the floor to see whats going on there...
  10. Hi all, Thinking about head clearance, im 5.8in, boat is 6ft, is that managable or uncomfortable? How much head clearance is needed to not be bangin ones noggin on a daily basis?
  11. Is it a presawash you got? They are awesome, Ive been looking for one for a while but they are like golddust it would seem.... I will not give up. You do not appriciate the awesomeness of clean clothes until you have hand cranked them clean with your own blood, sweat n tears
  12. I intend to grow herbs and small veggies upon my roof, more useful than plain ol flowers.... now where do I get some of them cabbage plants? I reckon they might help me put everything I have to do today off until tomorrow
  13. http://www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/dogs/dog_collars_dog_leads/harnesses/julius_k9_harnesses/194482?gclid=CMi-zeqN_L4CFQb3wgode3kAfg This is an awesome harness with a strong handle, fantastic for hoisting.... I can pick my dog up and carry her off with it and she is a spinger spaniel / staffy cross to give you an idea of her size. Its a tough call as a dog wearing a harness will tire quicker than one without when in the water, but trying to get a dog out of the water without something to grab is nigh on impossible. Ive also read of a problem with life jackets and the dog getting stuck under boats. Seems its dammed if you do and dammed if you dont sometimes. What you said was insensitive rather than offensive because what you were suggesting is possibly the worst fear someone with a missing dog would have. Of course these things do happen and I am sure the owner was painfully aware of it. But in times of stress and fear the last thing you need is someone confirming your worst fears.
