  5. The weather is confusing- saw a sparrow gathering feathers and grass stems today
  6. I just use a cheapish own brand one that's concentrated and make sure its bio for the enzymes to break down the contents. So far I've used a tesco lavender one and a co-op floral one. I add about 200-300ml after a pump out and a capful every so often. When we leave the boat for any time I add a glug and then flush

  13. I heard there is a lovely group of ladies at Mercia Marina- the tillerettes who help newbie boat handlers. I'm not sure how to get in touch. Anyone have a contact at Mercia?
  14. New year - New Home-it has a good sound to it- Good luck with the rest
  15. Lovely- I really like the flooring and the panelling. It looks like a labour of love- thanks for the inspiration
  16. Don't know about them being designed for boats but we've had an inset style one in the house for 3 years. No problems so far- easy to keep in, we use mainly seasoned wood with a small amount of smokeless. The airwash is good
  17. Even when we had found our boat and that took a while - it took a few weeks to arrange test drive, agree prices, pay for it- the broker would only take a cheque and waited for it to clear and arranging a survey may take a couple of weeks to get a slot to lift it. Friends recently found a number of yards fully booked as people take boats in for blacking now It may be possible but I'd be looking to get a surveyor on stand by Good luck Just a thought but do you have any friends with a bit of land. Friends bought a cheap caravan which they lived in whilst sorting their boat and then sold it for what they paid
  18. Went down the Ashby this week. You need the guy in the shop to open the gate for you to go down the new bit but he had closed when we arrived. You can wind at the new end if you're 51foot or less Only disappointment was the lime kilns stopped Sunday lunch food at 2-15. We arrived at 2-25pm Had a great week and the weather was much kinder to us than expected
  19. Nylon stocking in Nuneaton- we could clothe a few mannequins with all our findings xx

  22. Most but not all ex hire boats don't have a solid fuel stove. Depending on your usage I would consider the heating costs over winter or if you have space to install one the cost of installation
  23. Have a look on eBay for ash carrier- much cheaper
  24. Scrub the wood with Zoflora concentrated disinfectant and try to get airflow to the area. We had a slight leak under the bed and after cleaning did this and added some lavender essential oils and left the area open as long as we could
  25. We've got a villager puffin seems easy to control and keep in overnight
