  1. Hmm have to look into it. Never considered the east coast. I was thinking more , canals and rivers lol.
  2. Excuse my ignorance lol. I just assumed it would necessitate overland at some point. I quickly tried Google but could not find any definitive answer.
  3. Found quite a few decent broads boats. However , many are at marinas on the east coast. Bit of a problem getting onto the K&A lol.
  4. Looking at Broome 30 ,also known as Ocean 30 etc. Few about asking around 22.5k. Widths 9 and 10 feet. Looks promising, have to check one over.
  5. Had to sell my 40ft steel nb last year due to a family crisis. Had been a liveaboard for 14 years. Looks like I will have to buy another boat or rent a flat lol. Anyway I am beginning to come around to the idea of a GRP cruiser as a liveaboard. I will have a max of 25k available. However most steel boats at this price are old , with hulls that have seen better days. I spent 6/7k on my last boat to keep the surveyor happy. I know there are exceptions around , but not many. So....I thought , save the hassle of worrying about rust and pitting and buy a GRP. Ok they have disadvantages when considering internal space and perhaps condensation. But I'm sure I could fit a stove and whatever else is needed for comfort. Am I kidding myself lol. Any thoughts?
  6. Thanks for all the replies. I had a look again this morning and must admit i bottled it lol , after a few abortive attempts. Just havent got the confidence i used to have i suppose. However a friend who runs a one man maintenance business was at the marina. He was going to do a little work for me anyway later so i asked his opinion. He offered to have a look so i returned to my boat and removed the deck board and rocker cover. He had a tool that anchored to the rocker shaft once the rocker arm was shifted out of the way. A little bit of pressure and hey ho it slipped back in. Must of taken him 1 minute lmao , and he made it look so simple. Im just relieved and can highly recommend Brendon Hossack of K & A Boat Repairs, good man. Now i have seen it done i will have more confidence should something similar ever happen.
  7. Checked valve clearances on my Thornycroft 80D [Mitsubishi K4D]. It appears the inlet on no7 has a loose collet. It is sitting almost level with the end of the valve. If i turn 7 to TDC can i push the spring down enough to replace it ? Really dont want to take the head off lol. I thought a simple piece of wood with a slot in the end to push on the spring retainer might do ? Advice please.
  8. I have a Thornycroft 80E engine, basically its a Mitsubishi K4D [i think]. Anyone know of a good company for general spares. ie Head gasket set and parts for a partial head rebuild ?
  9. I can get Tradesman or Handyman ,but when i mention boats its a different matter lol. Much of my work will be in a marina , where public liability is a requirement.
  10. Im looking to find a reasonable price for PLins for boat painting. Would anyone have any advice? I tend to concentrate on sections , like a roof and not complete boats. Its for acquaintances or friends really, not full time.
