  1. Ive just been called lots of names by a lad fishing on the shroppie because I said fishing isn't allowed, , he said he was bored after spending three weeks in isolation, and wasn't doing any harm, people had to walk around him and his brother. Doubt I would of said anything , but he was the third today I have seen fishing. But is it worth the abuse and confrontation, I'm not the police.

  3. In my experience, a bow thruster will not beat a windy day blowing in the opposite direction to where you want to go, if your reversing out of a marina jetty, for instance, coming out great, but as soon as the bow clears the jetty, you have to decide, fight it or turn into it, then reverse. Go with the flow, I can't see a bow thruster beating a wind much over ten miles an hour if reversing. Going forward it may help a bit, but not much over engine thrust steering.
  4. I used to be a nurse, and as only qualified on duty they asked me to do a long day, 7 till 10 shift, but as I hadn't brought anything in for a meal later on, I asked the domestic , who was going out for lunch to the shops if she could get me some mince, and if she could get me some spaghetti, gave her a fiver. Later on after her return, she said I wasn't sure what mints you wanted so I got you some chewing gum ones and trebor, I didn't see any spaghetti selling shops, is that ok. Lovely lady, but true story.
  5. People should stop judging others, we don't know other people's circumstances, calm down and be nice.?
  6. Are you sure no one has nicked your tv
  7. I wondered because you started talking about batteries being charged confused me, I know your a valuable contributor to this forum, I am currently on the shroppie, between water points shops and marinas, just like winter cruising. I am surprised you got a greenie off that comment though. Is he your friend?
  8. Yes, and I think I saw you once, but you was pulling away from a pub , the one where you can see a horse carved out, but you was moving off chatting to a female on your starboard gunnel, so didn't like to intrude, I saw your boat again moored up on way back, I did say I would buy you a drink if I ever saw you, but throwing a few cans of lager on your boat, as that was all I had, might of looked like vandalism to , your more discerning palate., I should of reversed back and left a note, but next time..
  9. Only had it four years, and you told me to buy it, ? Retirement is boring if you don't enjoy it, I think I have done everywhere nice I can get to though (60ft) So will probably do it all again.
  10. I'm a continuous cruiser, I do 1500 hrs a year cruising the network , I slow down a little in winter.
  11. I'm a continuous cruiser, I was replying to previous comment on not being responsible if not taking up a marina berth.
  12. Quite right, those that have money to pay a marina are responsible, but what does that make me without the money to pay .?
  13. Foot and mouth, was a risk by people walking in those areas, can't see what this has to do with that, people panicking are making this worse

  17. Coal bag speed bumps! Would slow the gallop
  18. Just to finish this off, I did end up putting that silver insulation stuff all round areas that were getting hot. Anyway I noticed in time the stove wasn't getting as hot, I'e heat coming up from the sides where the Morso outer protective plate is. And in time it all went back to normal. I still don't know the answer, maybe my sweeping the chimney a couple of times better than last year, maybe replacing the front glass. i will have to re assess next year, I did not try sweeping the chimney again this year, but Winter has been mild, temperature wise. Anywayas an aside , this year I have been using a new coal, and have used it for last four months, it has made me rethink my ideas of changing to a diesel burner. I use "glow" briquettes, my fire has been on constantly, I have to empty the ash pan once a week, last year it was once a day, or fire choked itself and went out. Brilliant stuff, it's about £12 a bag, I mentioned same to someone else who used it, but did not have a squirrel, he did not find it as good, so all I I can say I have found it great in our set up.
  19. Is Barbridge still shut , anyone know when it's due to be reopened ?
  20. Just to finish this topic off if anyone is looking in the search with the same problem. After my problems detailed above, the problem seemed to right itself, so I thought maybe there had been some condensation, that had dissipated. i had no further problems till this year again, the same problem arose. So that switch gear in original photo can be prised off with a screwdriver, the switch is a sealed unit, so I traced the cable from there, it's a ribbon cable, and it meets a connection plug between the switch and toilet. This had signs of corrosion, probably from last year getting moisture, then drying out , then this year starting to short circuit. So without a tool to join the two ribbon cables together, I spliced the pins (there was ten, although only 6 would work as there is three buttons on the control pad) a fiddly patience of a saint job. All then individually insulated and then all together insulated with tape. Hey presto all working. i contacted asap supplies for advice on this, who contacted vesus on my behalf, just giving a shout for them who do have a live question page if people have questions on anything. Job done ,hope that helps anyone else with this set up, trace to the ribbon connection junction, as it looks susceptiacal to damp.Dont buy a new switch at £140 until you have checked other possibilities. This is just my experience , your experience and set up may be completely different so don't quote me .

  23. I just suspected you may be advertising. It seems to me no one would be dismantling a cratch cover or pram hood, when it's the worst weather of the year, next week yes, but that's not what your offering., hopefully I am wrong.but if you offer to do it when it's not impractable , then it's a generous offer, and not just advertising possibly.
