  1. Yes. This getting together of as many groups as possible was initiated by NABO but as IWA has the staff and set up, it's taken over organising. Donations should be ringfenced for the FBW fund only but I'll try to get confirmation of this.
  2. This today from the newly created Fund Britain's Waterways group representing many of the UK's boating groups: https://waterways.org.uk/fund-britains-waterways
  3. No trace of embarrassment that the flight is currently closed.....
  4. Bu**er CRT, I hope the vollies will be chuffed. Being on the whole a self effacing lot, they will know that the system isn't totally dependant on them but surely boaters need to commend them on the variety of work they do to help to keep the deteriorating waterways open?
  5. The couple who own the boat have said that the wife couldn't manage the paddles/gates so husband left the boat to help. Somehow it went in to reverse gear.....All off and safe.
  6. Couldn't find a taker at £15,000pa so let's double that. https://howkinsandharrison.co.uk/property/the-stop-house-the-wharf-braunston-daventry-northamptonshire-nn11/
  7. Continuous cruisers with NFA remain unable to claim. The gov. website says 'under review' but nothing has changed for months. CRT and some MP's have been trying to find a way but this gov. is afraid of fraudulent claims that can't be checked. Some marina based livaboards who can prove they pay council tax have succeeded.
  8. I'm hearing that there appears to be no standardisation in approach to boater applications by the local councils who are charged with giving out this gov. money. Consequently some boaters are successful, some are not, with no obvious reasons as to how these outcomes are arrived at. Complaints to the BEIS or the council involved are taking weeks to be replied to.
  9. You're not reassured by Parry's repeated claims that they are very careful who they sell to? He did find it difficult to say how this could be achieved at auction though. I suggested that he shouted "No!" if he didn't like the look of the winning bidder.
  10. A NABO council member has heard back from Parry about the retrospective Liverpool mooring charges. Because of all the complaints, CRT have now decided they will refund all charges made on bookings before March. Not sure what happens to those who cancelled because of the charges though.
  11. It will be news to Parry if it is sold!
  12. And who has allowed it to become dilapidated? The same authority that was charged with looking after the UK's heritage when they took it all on.
  13. Maybe not being so greedy with the leasing stipulations would be a start.
  14. Nothing to laugh about here from Private Eye. The last sentence is disengenuous to say the least. None of the proceeds from all these sales of our heritage go directly to maintaining the system, however many times this is said as a justification. This is not allowed so any proceeds are invested. The fate of the iconic Braunston Stop House is also at risk again as Braunston Marina have pulled out of leasing it.
  15. Was it nb Temujin? If so, here's a link to some of their extensive blog. http://narrowboattemujin.blogspot.com/ By the way, if your boat is 20m or over, you won't be able to meet the European Es-Trin regs. and your boat will be impounded if the authorities see you. The Brexit 3 month rules also now impact on how long you can stay as do the VAT that could now be chargeable when you bring your boat back.
  16. Here's a link to the application form. Give it a try and see how far you can get: https://online.apply-for-energy-bill-alternative-funds.service.gov.uk/s/#where-do-you-live
  17. Apparently a boater very recently rang CRT customer service and asked to buy a continuous cruiser licence. The boater was put through to another department where he was told that that licence doesn't exist currently, but will be available in 2024. You heard it here first.
  18. I've heard today that currently there remains no route for liveaboard ccers with no fixed address to access this money although the BEIS are continuing to review this.
  19. They might be behind with sending them as NABO got them to change the wording, removing the references to the non-existent 'continuous cruising licence'.
  20. Is this going to impact the boatyard and moorings? https://canalrivertrust.org.uk/media/original/47601-dispose-of-land-at-dudley-wharf.pdf?v=ec7731
  21. Technically??? 'People often refer'....do they or is it only CRT who do? This looks disingenuous and will feed the division they are trying to promote within boaters who really should be pulling together on this or CRT will push and push to see how much they can get away with in the increased costs to boaters, not only by licence increases. That's just the start.
  22. These have suddenly appeared to cover CRT's back trying to suggest that there really are two boat licences.
