Yes ive just been reading about it. Very sad indeed. I wonder if it will be found the type of craft is not fit for purpose as it was it seems a storm that whipped up? We still have some of the old ones in use over here,  Somewhat like taking a narrowboat to sea.

The Liverpool ones stopped running and the London ones operate on land only as their slipway has been compulsorily purchased. Are there any still operating amphibiously in the UK?

There is a Purpose Built "Duck "that has been Operating in Windsor for the last 4-5 Years.Well designed and always Skippered by Experienced Boatmen.

Some of the Problematical/disastrous ones have been set up by "Entrepreneurs".

We went on a "Duck Tour" whilst on holiday in Singapore - actually very stable in the harbour and the entry / exit to and from the water. I wouldn't want to go anywhere other than a flat calm though!

I saw the topic title and thought that it must have been a group of duck hunters on a boat. Apparently the boat was a DUKW (a WW2 amphibious landing craft), or one of its descendants.

Apparently the death toll has now reached 17 - including nine members of the same family.
