Lombardini 602 Cam Belt- Where to Buy?

BEngo

Featured Posts

I have a Lombardini LPW602 which drives our built-in generator. The cam belt is now getting elderly so I would like to replace the belt lest it decide to retire without notice.....

Any ideas where the best place to get one might be please? Are there any other bits that ought to be done at the same time?

I have the Workshop manual and the service guide but they only suggest replacement of the belt.

What I would do is, look for a number on the existing belt. Match with a belt from quite a choice of suppliers.

Is the model an LPW or LDW?

Thank you, yes it is an LDW.

Looking at the existing belt is a rather difficult job involving a fair bit of dismantling so I was hoping to do the whole thing in one go.

If you want to play safe, then you change the lot and buy the complete kit, which include the waterpump and the rollers :

But if you prefer to do it on the cheap, then you'll only buy the belt, but only after you know how many teeth your waterpump has, as the belt lenght differs between a pump with 19 teeth or a 21 teeth (older) type.

There seems to be two different water pumps fitted to these engines so you will have to check your engine serial no.

The difference in waterpumps is the reason for 2 different belt lenghts (as I wrote in post #6), but if BEngo buys the complete kit there won't be a chance of ending up with the wrong belt.

If he only wants to change the belt, then he needs to count the number of teeth on the waterpump of his engine first.

I have learned that it is not necessary to count the teeth individually because, in case it helps anyone else, the pulley diameter is either 56mm (19 teeth)or 62mm (21 teeth).

That's good to know, as it will save a lot of time not having to count 19 teeth wink.png
