Insult or Being nice ?

We have given beer or a brew but cash could be deemed a bit awkward for some I would imagine.

 

Has anyone thoght of charging gongoozlers for the entertainment?

Judging by the attitudes on here sometimes towards volunteer lockies, I reckon they'd appreciate it if you were just nice to them!

That's effectively what we do when SUCS invade Cholmendeston lock with their charity weekend things, putting stalls up to sell stuff and shaking tins in front of your nose as you do the lock. We have noticed that in fact the two of use can work the lock just as quick as they can, so don't really need their help but feel obliged to give something.

Now, stand at the end of a flight of locks (say Audlem) and say "If you give me £5 or £10 I'll do all the locks while you relax".

Then do the same the other way.
