  1. A cup of tea, or a cold drink on a hot day would be appreciated. A "thank you for your help" is all that the volunteers i work with would want.
  2. Last year a CCr asked myself and a collegue (we were checking water levels) why we were wearing life jackets. We explained to him that it was for safety reasons and also that it is CRT policy when working on the canalside. He argued that you could stand up in the middle of the canal as it was so shallow and you were never far from the side. A week later he was found drowned in the canal. I really wished he had listened to our explaination.
  3. Became mixed up with 3 pairs travelling together. They behaved as if they owned the canal, impatient, bullying and intimidating.
  4. Do historical working boats have priority over other boaters at locks ?
  5. Managed or privately run schemes? Your opinion would be appreciated.
  6. As mere humans, volunteer lock keepers are simular to boaters. There is a difference shown in this forum though and that is the VOLUNTEER lock keepers are not moaning and whinging about individual situations that arise during their volunteer days.
  7. Always 1 that has to have the last say.
  8. As a volunteer lock keeper i certainly would not be offended should any boater refuse an offer of assistance through the locks. There are a lot of crews/single boaters that are more than gratefull for the help. Give the lock keepers polite and clear instructions. No problem.
