Mooring in Bath on the Avon

The visitor moorings are operated by Bath council, they were in the process of upgrading them, putting in floating pontoons I seem to remember. No idea how far they are along. There is plenty of mooring a little further along the Avon.

Whilst there is plenty of mooring just down river from the lock it was pretty full when we were there last August. Much the same boats still there on our way back up river 10 days later. As only part of it is signed 48 hours then OK. They filled up fairly early each day.

However, there are visitor moorings halfway down the locks and there is another one further down river on the opposite side.

We were at Bath in April and no sign of pontoons then and definitely no access to the moorings near Pultney weir . A few die hard boats tied to the walls with access to the ladders from their roof . Bunny

All mooring between the K&A and Pultney weir are suspended, buoys and wires stop you getting anywhere near the wall.

CRT have signed (very small) temporary moorings in the lock flight above deep lock.

It is many years since I last moored below Pultney Weir. The small mooring fee then included free access to the showers in the nearby Leisure Centre. But, there were no water-points and the nearest place to empty a loo was above the locks. We could only stay for two nights.

If you enjoy being moored in a vibrant, illuminated City centre within easy, walking access to many attractions and excellent restaurants this was a city centre mooring second to none!

The walls are high but only a short step from the average narrowboat roof.

What a pity if these fabulous visitor moorings are, apparently, no longer available!

There are no moorings between the weir and the canal entrance, the nearest moorings are down river below the road bridge or in the pound 4 locks up from the river, then above top lock - although these are often blocked by ccmrs

Ccmers have to do this. It's the only way to stop them getting blocked by hire-boats or leisure boaters.

if they are CMers then the moorings are either continuously blocked or they are not CMers. cool.png

last time I went through Bath 2 weeks ago there were plenty of moorings on the north side of the river and at the official visitor moorings on the south side further west, but the noise of the new construction work would put most people off this second option.
