FadeToScarlet
An acquaintance is looking at buying a 38 foot converted butty stern, which he thinks is half of Pavo. I know there is an existing 60 foot Pavo, but we think this is the back end going backwards- the other end, possibly. Is this likely? Does any wise person have any records about what happened to the other half? I've not got an index number for it yet, and it's on the River Ouze at the moment, and I believe has been for some time. I have strong opinions about the original identity of this boat based upon solid research, but what makes your acquaintance think it is the stern of PAVO ? FadeToScarlet
Thanks, Pete. Will ask him. He's new to boats, and historic boats in particular. A previous owner did some research apparently (though whether it's done to your standard is unknown!) but I will try to find out more.

Max Sinclair
I purchased Pavo from BW tender list at Brentford for £80 and passed it on to Les Allen at Oldbury who cut it into two boats.

Thanks for the info, Max. What date was this? I've not heard back from this person yet, but will get in contact and find out the reasons why he believes it's Pavo. Clearly I can not state the actual date when Mr Sinclair purchased PAVO but I do have two British Waterways Board tender forms for this boat, one with the closing date of 06 November 1964 and the other 26 April 1965. On both tender forms PAVO is listed as laying at Cowley.
Max Sinclair
It would be early 1964 I went to see Pavo moored up opposite a timber factory on the Grand Union. Willow Wren brought it back to Oldbury for me.for a fiver..
