I have tried to find the date which the T & M will be fully navigable on the C&RT site,

I must be thick but am struggling.we are due to come round from Nantwich to Wigan for

Dry Dock third week of April will I be OK?

Cheers

Ian

By all accounts that's highly unlikely to be a possibility - C&RT are talking about a May finish now. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

UPDATE (28 January 2013): The preparatory work at Dutton that has been on-going since before Christmas has now given way to the full repair works for the site. The cost to fix the damaged embankment on the 235 year-old canal caused by the heavy rainfall in September is now estimated at £2.1m.

Due to the remote location of the breach, the Trust has been liaising with the local land owners to finalise access arrangements as well as carrying out investigations and completing designs before the main rebuilding work could commence, although some foundation works has been possible in advance of the design being finished.

Around 12 thousand tonnes of stones and other materials will be used to reconstruct the embankment. New drainage will be installed at the base of the embankment to help disperse excess water and a specialist Bentomat – a flexible liner mat - will be used to re-line and seal the reconstructed section of canal.

The Trust is working hard to re-open the canal as quickly as possible, the current programme of works estimates the canal will re-open in May. Of course this is subject to weather conditions not delaying the work.

We will be holding an open weekend during the work where members of the public will have the unique opportunity to view the breach and speak to the engineers about the works involved in its repair. The free event is ticketed and will be restricted to 30 people per hour, on the hour. Further information please visit www.canalrivertrust.org.uk/events

Over the next few days we will be speaking with boaters still moored in the area about any impacts the May re-opening may have on them, in the meantime if you have concerns about this update please contact our office at Red Bull on 0303 040 4040
