The Bagdad Boatman (waits)
Just a thought: Britain used to have many coal mines, now it has very few and thus there are fewer miners. Miners wear head torches, so there must be thousands of surplus ones in a storeroom at an NCB (or whatever it's called now) depot. Do these ever come on the market? they should be cheap and, being designed for underground use, would give a good light. Sorry if I am talking through an inappropriate orifice, but it seemed a - er - bright idea. Many potholers use them all you need is a belt to hang the monster battery and a charging system for same Toolstation have a cheap headtorch £6.63 Three leds and one ktypton bulb. jim and pat dalton
We find head torches uncomfortable to wear. esp as we wear them for many hours whilst doing firework displays and other stuff I can't stand to have that elastic band squeezing my skull. So we ended up using these. Its much more comfortable and they were ace when we took our holiday on the cut last january http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=cap+light
Tim Doran
That's impressive for the price Yup, and it is good as well. It even has a flashing red light on the back which is great if you are walking along a road and want to be seen from both directions. Tim

Its a friendly UK company to boot. clicky Available in 4 colours That looks like the bargain of the century. I have questions three: 1. Is it light enough to be effective with the top strap removed? I prefer ones with just a band round the head. 2. Does it do that hugely irritating thing where the tips of the LED's are visible to the wearer, destroying night vision completely? 3. You tested it in heavy rain much, how'd it fare?
