MPPT controller

Well, yes he was.

Buck converters are standard in most (all?) MPPT controllers. Where he was talking out of his arse right at the start was when he referred to a "stock buck converter inductor". As Gibbo went on to explain, any inductor will be specced to suit the circuit it is destined for, whether that be a Buck, an Inverter, a Smart Gauge or whatever. There is no such thing as either a 'stock' inductor, nor a 'stock' Buck Converter (his sentence doesn't make it clear which he was considering as 'stock').

Tony

Remember he was writing in "american". I took the word "stock" to mean no more than "the one that is installed in the circuit".

I am not challenging Gibbo's comments about the size of inductors. But I like to give american's who are poor technical writers as much slack as one would give the contributors to this forum :)

I took stock to mean the usual/commonplace which would be in context, although I do'nt know what that means

But does having a buck converter that is standard to mppt make this Wellsee an MPPT but not a very good one?

Remember he was writing in "american".

Then why didn't he write "The soddering job sucks"? :P

I wonder how many will get that...

That would appear to be the case. I think this is the 4th thread where it's come up, and it's not had very good press to date.

Oh, I see, it was a tiny pune or play on words.

Richard

The Yanks have for some time now for reasons unknown to the rest of the world, adopted the pronunciation of "soddering" when they refer to "soldering". They still spell it "soldering" but the pronunciation's got all weird.

They've done similar with "bouy" which is now widely pronounced as "boo-eey". When asked if they'd refer to a piece of wood as very "boo-eey-ant" they respond with a blank look.

Tony :)

Only some of them. A large proportion of the retards actually spell it "soddering". Go here... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page and type in "sodder" in the search box.

Truly unbelievable that so many of them got that so wrong they ended up with an auto divert on a non existent word.

I, also, am not impressed by incorrect spelling. But surely that is how many of our words have got to be the way they are today. And it is not only an american affliction. What about "would of" which is widely seen instead of "would have" and their was an "ofay" on this forum recently.

I see "would of" and "could of" along with "should of" and "might of" all the time. It's not an Americanism it's just a symptom of piss poor education.

My education is obviously sadly lacking, what is 'ofay' supposed to mean?

Their, there, they're.

As, has.

Where, were.

Whether, weather.

The list is endless and a sign of either a completely failed education system or lazy kids/parent. I think. Either way, it's nothing short of bordeline illiteracy.

There are plans for an improvement ..

The European Commission has just announced an agreement whereby English will be the official language of the EU rather than German which was the other possibility.

As part of the negotiations, Her Majesty's Government conceded that English spelling had some room for improvement and has accepted a five year phase-in plan that would be known as "Euro-English".

In the first year, "s" will replace the soft "c". Sertainly, this will make the sivil servants jump with joy. The hard "c" will be dropped in favour of the "k". This should klear up konfusion and keyboards kan have 1 less letter.

There will be growing publik enthusiasm in the sekond year, when the troublesome "ph" will be replaced with "f". This will make words like "fotograf" 20% shorter.

In the 3rd year, publik akseptanse of the new spelling kan be ekspekted to reach the stage where more komplikated changes are possible. Governments will enkorage the removal of double letters, which have always ben a deterent to akurate speling. Also, al wil agre that the horible mes of the silent "e"s in the language is disgraseful, and they should go away.

By the fourth year, peopl wil be reseptiv to steps such as replasing "th" with "z" and "w" with "v". During ze fifz year, ze unesesary "o" kan be dropd from vords kontaining "ou" and similar changes vud of kors be aplid to ozer kombinations of leters.

After zis fifz yer, ve vil hav a reli sensibl riten styl. Zer vil be no mor trubl or difikultis and evrivun vil find it ezi to understand ech ozer. Ze drem vil finali kum tru! And zen world!

I would be more concerned that they say its UK stock yet it has no TAX or VAT on it whilst they are obviously a large company as you can see from previous sales (which are over the UK VAT limits) & the corporate pictures they use.

They also say that they are PRC based yet ship from a UK address.

The listed registered address is all in Chinese so you cant read it.

剑平 李

荔湾区西堤二马路南方大厦国际电子数码城4FB024档

510130 广州市, 广东省

中國

They have a corporate web site & domain yet use gmail for email communications. It all adds up to me.

Which is:

Jianping Li

Sai Er Road, Liwan District, South Building, digital city, 4FB024 file

510130 Guangzhou, Guangdong

China
