The non-canal picture (number 5) is How Hill on the River Ant, Norfolk Broads.

Hope to be passing there on Saturday on Grebe if this thaw continues.

Well spotted -

That was taken in October 2006 when Jan and I took our first ever boating holiday with just us and no scurvy dogs to help.. Hired Brinks Omega from Barnes Brinkcraft at Wroxham.

The easy one is Sawley.

I'm guessing #1 is somewhere we can't get to on our boat.

Correct Sawley Double locks where I felt a right eejit as I strode up to the (automated) lock gates, windlass in hand :banghead: . -

ref #1 - If you are more than 58ft and a bit (which I believe you are) - correct.

I think number 2 is Alvecote Priory on the Copventry Canal

Doug

Cheers - we moored near there on our first big 'ring'.

Finally a real easy one..!!

Course it is MJ...that was a scarey pic, I lowered the camera and opened my other eye and went faint and wobbly for a few seconds, I was stood up mid boat near the edge trying to get a pic of that massive substantial trough side..!!

I should really have got that one, as I live within walking distance of How Hill, although in fairness I've never actually seen it from the land. (We never moored there when I was coming to the Broads on holiday, probably because it's a fairly long walk back to Ludham Bridge to go to the pub.)

Driving back home today, I notice that the weather is a lot warmer, and the River Bure at Hoveton/Wroxham and the River Ant at Ludham Bridge are both free of ice once more. :)

Hi Teadaemon,

The fore-shortening in the image makes recogintion harder. The picture appears to have been taken from the small Staithe at How Hill, looking south. Turf Fen Mill appears to be opposite the moorings when it is actually beyond the moorings (southwards) and round a bend.
