Heartland
The book "from Munktell to Valtra" which is a history of the Valtra Tractor company mentions a connection with Bolinder. A merger with Bolinder and Munktell in the 1930's. The brothers Carl Gerhard and Jean Bolinder had established a machine shop and foundry at Stockholm in 1844. The first Sewdish serial-made internal combustion engine was started at the Bolinder factory in 1893. Later the firm introduced a 2 cycle raw oil engine that became a popular product. Jrtm
I'd be interested to see a picture of the Pollocks plate, if at all possible. I'm trying to make a design for a replacement Pollocks builders' plate for my little tug, I know approximately what was on the plate but hoping to get the right style for the period. If you have a picture, any chance you could email it if you can't post it on here? Thanks Tim Hi tim dont know how to load pics but if able to pm me an email address ill send you one unless some one can tell me how to upload. Jrtm
narrow boats - CLENT, DANE, DRAGON, FERRET, GEORGE, PEACOCK, SPEY, STOUR, UMEA, WORCESTER - off the top of my head, so there are sure to be a few more - and CLENT, FERRET, GEORGE and PEACOCK are certainly not running with their original Bolinder http://www.canalworld.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/#EMO_DIR#/captain.gifWorcester i beleve isnt a bolly from new im sure it was a KROMHOUT (not sure of spelling) when she was built but then after had a bolly fitted. But is as far as i know still has its original bolly fitted. Edited November 20, 2016 by billybobbooth
pete harrison
Worcester i beleve isnt a bolly from new im sure it was a KROMHOUT (not sure of spelling) when she was built but then after had a bolly fitted. But is as far as i know still has its original bolly fitted. WORCESTER and GEORGE were of course Kromhout powered from new, although both were refitted with Bolinder's whilst still in trade
