The joys of SSA

I do miss the river but not the SSA 😲

I see @blackrose is going nowhere on his boat for a while 😉

SSA seems to be somewhat broken at the moment , at least on the G.Ouse.

Locks have Yellows boards on them but noone seems to have had any emails, txts etc.Even my Teamup was showing Reds until today when it miracously back dated itself to the 10th!

For the last 3 months published data on the Great Ouse seems to be all over the place, levels reading really high when they're pretty normal etc... Also saw it the other way, data said normal but water was over the bank and racing past....

I collected a boat from Hartford in January heading upstream as there was a  short window in the SSA then.

Levels were OK and the Offord flow guage said the flow was well down(cant remember what now- maybe 12-17 ish)

I kid you not the narrowboat nearly stopped a couple of times😀- Ive since heard that in fact the true reading never dropped below 30m3 in that period which was probably a bit more like it.

In addition to the stoppages list, also worth noting that Cogenhoe lock is shut (power supply problems, via the local campsite), and not clear if there is yet a plan for sorting the issue.

It will go the same way as Titchmarsh, back to manual wind 😲

That's fine by me. I think reversion to manual may be easier at some locations, where the original 1930s gearbox is still there, compared to others ?
