Tom Jones Boatyard immediately below Romney lock. 

 

The lease for the site was recently taken over by the rather iconic Steve Bil, wife and son Charlie. 

 

Nice little yard that one. It is where my boats will be coming out when I get a round tuit.

 

They have a 30 tonne travel hoist but a beam limit of about 11ft.

I know that crane well, Romney lock & island where a favourite when I was at school in the 70's, my mate & me would sit on the island counting Caribbean cruisers.

You probably remember the old lock keeper who used to be there,  Fred Smith and his wife Mary I believe. Used to sell ice creams out of their porch
