Blanking of unused gas spur?

I bought a narrowboat once that had a rubber gas hose blocked up with the silver foil paper you use to find in cigarette packets. The owner used to temporarily fit a gas fridge only when they went on holiday because gas was dangerous. That is what he told me.

Probably the same guy who tied up his boat to Armco with a spare bit of gas piping to save wearing out his mooring ropes. Sorted that for him after retrieving the boat.

Just reviving this thread as I'm ordering a straight reduced coupling.

I know the big pipe on the left is 1/2" as I remember fitting it and I've just measured it, but I can't remember what the reduced pipe size on the right is and it's quite difficult to get my verniers in the corner to measure it. Does anyone have any idea from looking at it what it might be? 3/8" perhaps?

The curved pipe at the bottom looks like the same diameter as the one on the right and it measures 0.369" so I suppose that's 3/8".
