Brake pipes are 3/16" on cars, far too small.

Normally fuel pipes are 5/16" or older maybe 1/4" soft copper. Assuming we are taking about canal boats?

Fuel pipe assemblies on SR2 engines are partially internal, they are brazed together. I have always bought ready made ones so that there is a warranty for the customer.

The two pipes I will be changing are fuel return and the one that comes from the fuel tank

to the lift pump will also need olives and fittings or salvage the brass fittings of the old pipes

They look like 5/16'' pipes, but measure them to make sure. You should then be able to use the old fittings but use new olives of course. 8 mm olives will work on 5/16'' pipe if you can't get imperial.

You can buy miniature pipe benders for about £8 on eBay, they make a very tidy job and you may be able to route the pipework so it is out of harms way.

Somewhere on an industrial estate near you there will be a hydraulic pipes and hoses supplier with more stuff than you could ever imagine existed.
