Anderton lift is pretty much seen by CRT as a fairground attraction, relying on the trip boat as the lift's principal income source. Any time there is a fault, the slots are prioritised for the trip boat, to keep hhe money flowing and the punters quiet. So, once CRT have worked out a way to run the trip boat and comply with COVID regulations I expect the lift will be back. In the meanwhile there is a rumour that CRT are looking to relocate the lift to the Tees barrage, as that is close as they could get it to Barnard Castle.?
