  1. Looks like one support rack for kayaks
  2. Best pub in Wigan for architecture is opposite the north western station

  4. Which hospital was the steerer admitted to after arrival in GY?
  5. Yes - many people bend the weed hatch retaining bar by over tightening. On the non tidal cut not fully tightening us not an issue, but to tackle the flood tide of the Severn we had the motor on full for over an hour and suspect the extra pressure from the prop rotation caused the leak. Not helped that the seal strip was worn in places
  6. Yes of course, but the water coming in made the boat heel until the port scuppers let more in
  7. When we started shipping water in the Bristol Channel from the weed hatch (due to hammering the flood tide) and nearly capsized the scuppers certainly didn't help
  8. In Leiden in the Netherlands the canal bridges are very low. Old orange ship's lifeboats are very popular with the local residents. I wondered why until our friends took us on a short trip to town to see a music festival hosted on a pontoon in the canal - we had to lie down on the twarts to get under each bridge Is there a video of this ship going under said bridge?
  9. No - it is also a music festival - my son played there over 10 years ago
  10. Hi all! My wife and I are looking for another one week share in a narrowboat. I am an experienced boater. We are retired so don't mind what dates we get (not mid-winter if possible) and we don't mind too much where the boat is. I would prefer a trad/ semi-trad stern layout and at least 4 berths - so something in the region of 50-60 feet? Anyone looking for another owner? Thanks Tony
  11. That problem arose a few years ago on our, privately managed, shared boat. on the linen issue, once in a shared ownership boat you might be able to ask another owner who lives near the boat to store a set of linen for you (and duvets in our case)
