  1. I would have thought any difference would be their choice. For example the live aboard's may well choose to have more personal contents cover, given they would have more potentially valuable stuff on the boat, and no household insurance that would provide some "away from home" cover.
  2. Slightly We has a omni-direction aerial on a magnetic mount which is ok in strong signal areas. I was thinking of trying a directional one, but is is possible to use a magnetic or other type of mount that does not involve permanent fixing?
  3. I have to admit a few times when going under a bridge and a car approaching the bridge has (needlessly) blasted his horn disturbing the peace, it have returned that blast. Naughty I know
  4. I was going to say the same thing, we moor near Napton and quite a few neighbours live on the south coast, and choose to moor where there are more cruising choices.
  5. Also the towpath side hopefully has deeper water
  6. I love the "Write now for details". it reminds you of how much communications have changed from that seems like no time ago. No "see web site for details" in those days!
  7. Being slightly more generous, why don't you have a look on Wikipedia, a good starting point being History of the British canal system

  12. Wow the power, I did not realise you could edit stuff like that. I have removed the subtitle!
  13. Does not really matter what stern, if you take off 7' 6" each end ie 15' total you will not be too far off.
  14. TEN FOUR RD Built by BELLAIRS - Length 15.18 metres (49 feet 10 inches ) - Beam 2.08 metres (6 feet 10 inches ) Metal hull, . Registered with British Waterways number 519199 as a Powered. Last registration recorded on 31-May-2011. I guess the previous owner was a CB'er!
  15. I agree that is not "Saturday Bridge" its the road bridge further down, which Calalpan does correctly call Saturday Bridge. Is Tindall bridge that low, I can't picture it as being. I thought the bridge below Brades staircase was the lowest on the BCN, but when we went under that on the BCN challenge that did not seem that low to me.
  16. Each to their own, but I thought the book gave good info. The diagrams are a bit basic true, but there is more in there than Nicholsons in terms of moorings, and the lock diagrams I found helpful The old bathing place is only half way to the red house, and the absolute limit is another mile or so further that that. So if you want to try you can get perhaps 2 miles further than the old bathing place, but perhaps with 67 foot it is pushing it a bit.
  17. Out of interest when the phone is operating as a wifi router does it still allow you to make and take phone calls and do other stuff on the phone?
  18. Anything is possible, but as you say both post are less than open, so not going to get much of a reaction except suspicion.
  19. I would go for 2 students doing the same assignment, there does not have to be anything sinister going on. However the fact that it is the summer holidays is a bit suspicious though. Perhaps they would like to state what institution they are from and what the course is.
  20. Try not to do it when the river is full of rowing boats. Between the tramway bridge and the road bridge is where the rowing boats are hired from, so going through the bridges can be interesting.
  21. The Guide Book shows you where, unfortunately mine is on the boat so I can't look. 67 foot is going to be quite long up there!
  22. The cafe looked shut down last time I went past.
  23. Usually getting wet steering. It we are stopped TV/DVD, reading etc, or in the pub.
