  2. nothing on the T&M is really low as far as I'm aware
  3. I take it one of them worked then
  4. my old boat has a shaft of something in the region of 8' x 2" with no supports the stern shaft has 1 support bearing and the engine is solid mounted on 2"x 4" timber 2 UJ's with adapter plates and has run for over 20 years problem free (the stern tube has had a new bearing sleeve last year the first time it has been replaced the stern shaft is 1 3/4"
  5. don't know the car but most car clocks are simple my 3 are as folows 1. press and hold the left button until time flashes adjust the minutes press again to adjust the hour (transit connect) 2. twist the left hand spindle clockwise for minutes or anti clock for hours (VW transporter) 3. press the buttons either side of clock display for minutes (right) and hours (left) (Peugeot 406) hope 1 of the above is like yours kev
  6. EE/tmobile/orange have had a lot of problems of late including almost total failure at least once last week they've got so bad I moved to Vodafone as couldn't stand their nonsense any more
  7. on the hotel boats we were on 24V throughout and power was transferred via cables from the motor to the butty either side by side or over the stern / foreend depending on wether we were on the move or not, I believe they were set up as 24v rather than 12 as it was easier to maintain the batteries with less drain when not connected across, especially useful on days when there were loads of locks tardebigge, audlem/adderley/tyrley etc when we would be detached from the motor most of the day
  8. I can see the top half of a body in the water bottom left and also the face between the poles, shadow on the bottom of the seat that looks at first glance like a cat ..... still cant find the 747 but nor can anyone else!!
  9. I remember back in the 80's there was a singles column in Waterways World, full of time waster women who wouldn't ever get beyond a couple of messages and a dozen excuses not to meet!! maybe it was the 2 heads and horns that put them off!! lol
  10. 1/2 way down the Wendover on the offside, the end of the Stourbridge extension, the entrance to Swan lane wharf and the London road corner at devizes are all too short /too silted to turn a 70 round by fore end in, the latter 3 can be done by sticking the stern in and swinging the bow round (yes I've done them all)
  11. first thing to check is the fuel return pipe as it cracks and gives these symptoms, easy to do undo the nuts holding the rocker covers on, lift them off and you should have a birds eye view of the pipes it usually fails between the 2 cylinders as the computer wont let me edit the above post its the same on the 3 as the 2 but additionally there are 3 return pipes rather than 2 all joining into each other

  13. typical pose always on the phone! very traditional! lol
  14. "registered at" was originally applied to all boats that had accommodation, under the canal boats act it made it clear as to how many could sleep in the cabin/s modern boats should not carry "registered at", as they are not registered under the act the last boat so registered was in the 1980's at Market Harborough modern boats should have "Licensed at" if they wish to follow the tradition as that would be correct process as modern boats are licenced to use the waterways
  15. thanks for that Tom you've just cost me money!!!! lol that should make my life a lot easier!
  16. boated the North Walsham & Dilham up to Honing several times when I was work party organiser for EAWA and also cleared trees both on the canal and also Dilham Dyke. don't be put off by the obnoxious land/canal owner between Wayford and Honing He will bully and harass if you dare to use it with a motor boat !! don't take any notice He cannot stop you as the canal to Honing is subject to tidal influence and as such freely navigable!!

  19. think you'll find that's Blisworth the original tunnel bore was slightly to the east of the finished tunnel and was rerouted due to ground water issues during construction, as for Braunston I have been through it loads of times with both single motors and pairs never had a bad experience yet and have even passed a single motor with a pair in the kink without issue!! of all the tunnels my favourite has to be Wast Hill just love that trip always different every time I have passed through!
  20. We use Wilkinsons Bitumen paint both for boat hull and for lock gates both seem to be equally long lasting and at £25 for 5 litres isn't expensive!
  21. just do the lot!! go on you know you want too!! lol but another vote for the curly wyrley and the northern bits so tranquil. I just love the BCN
  22. not all oven /grill need the injectors replacing to convert to LP Gas some rely on a simple alteration to the air intake although this is not common, also a hob fitted with FFD / FSD does not extinguish immediately if the gas flame is extinguished it may take 30 seconds or more to turn the gas off this is acceptable but the maximum time is 90 seconds I would be looking at replacing the thermocouple if over a minute to turn off!!
  23. personally I would just get it put right, then it wont ever be an issue again. plastic in a gas locker is a silly idea as the chemicals in LP Gas could damage the plastic better safe than sorry, hardly going to be expensive to weld a new metal pipe in
