  1. Many thanks all for comprehensive and interesting responses. I happen to live a stone's throw from the old Fellows, Morton and Clayton wharf in Uxbridge, so I think 'Registered at Uxbridge' would be fitting (even if it is, as you have told me, a bit of an affectation these days!)
  2. Hi. NBs seem to carry either a 'registered at' (eg. Watford) signifier, with a registration number, and this is more often than not, it seems to me, painted on the upper superstructure near the stern, and/or a 'home name' under or near the boat name, (eg. 'Rambling Rose', Watford), which could be anywhere, and in several places, too. Could someone please explain the differences and the rules? Woxbrigge nb (saving hard!)
  3. Claret73 - I think this is a very useful and well thought out little gizmo and I've just made one myself, modelled on yours. Glad davidc weighed in with the pump out reminder! Oh those toilets!! However, I was bummed to see in other posts the relatively expensive rate of nb mortgages from the sole provider out there. I expect in the next few years to have the cash to pay the bulk of a fairly upscale liveaboard bespoke (I know, I know, but it will be my 'forever home', I hope, so happy to pay up), with the rest as a loan. Costs will be relatively high (mooring fees primarily), but it is perfectly feasible on my salary if (big if) my loan costs can be controlled. I don't want to raid the pension and besides, I won't be eligible to do so anyway, for a while. Anybody in the same position please?
  4. Thanks Julynian. I imagine this is the sort of debate that you get a lot of in the nb world, with fans on both sides. I think your point about not having valuables on view is a good one: a thief might well not risk the speculative break in if they have no idea what they might be getting into or away with. Coupled with something like this and some good internal LEDs and I reckon you'd be fine.
  5. What about the security aspect of windows? If a burglar is going to try to get in, would they head straight for a window?
