  1. Probably looked like this. (AV2RMR) Pic isnt great- reduction box is there but in the shadow if you look carefully
  2. Ducie Street Junction is OK. I once had the pleasure (and survived it) of overnighting there on a boat with no front doors - just a blanket to help stop the draught. The only place Ive ever had any hassle was someone who obviously thought they could kick their way in through the cabin side- that was at the Boat and Horses. Suspect the owner of that boat had upset some locals at some point.
  3. Does on the Thames. EA tried to do this on the Great Ouse and Nene but there was an outcry and they actually backed down in the end. Shame as I would have actually been alot better off 😀
  4. To be fair that was taken the day before I met Captain Pegg on the Lapworth-so a little while ago. Reason I was there was I was making a diversion as I arrived at Braunston just in time for them to announce Stockton was going to be delayed 🤢 It wasnt really on the way to Alvechurch 😀
  5. If anyone ever asks you to take one of those ink blot evaluations- refuse 😀
  6. At least CRT put plenty of notices up on the B&F lock gates so anyone who had missed the closure notices had some warning. I'll give CRT that one...😀
  7. I must have met a really diplomatic one. He wasnt overly impressed with the horn volume and gave me an air horn asking me if I would drop it back to the other end of the tunnel for him..😀
  8. I thought this was a log on the Selby Canal until it started waving its flippers about 😀
  9. Anywhere that involves an overnight stop at Laughton Hills 🙂 Stuck on SSA on my own boat as well as customers- Im so jealous and developing cabin fever now..😀
  10. I did chuckle when I first read your post. I was moving a lovely boat not long ago, everything on it and about it was great- except the morse control was at about knee height. What a pain -even I had to bend down to reach it 😀
  11. Its the same as mine- cover pops off and fits as M_JG says. Qualified to answer as Im not very tall 😀
  12. Maybe the EA is- Wollaston stoppage has just been extended again 🤬 There is still quite a flow heading your way from Bedford so will be a bit yet..
  13. Someone in IT has been busy. Back working again
  14. All the EA sites seem to be showing the future since late last night! Hopefully for all those watching Rivers at the moment, it will be up and running again soon..
  15. Im genuinely suprised you dont find that. I dont doubt there are some ,erm, less than diligent brokers around- Ive come across some 😀 but find boats with completely knackered batteries all to common. Especially the last couple of years where theyve probably sat unused. But then to be fair my opinion is probably not totally balanced as I only tend to pick up boats from the better brokers 😀 Always nice to buy a boat and not have to treat it to new batteries straight away. Hope you remember to cancel the txts though when the new owners take over 😀
  16. No -the reason is usually because the batteries are already completely sh****d when the owners put them on brokerage 😀
  17. Wow.Thats very lucky- cant imagine having them visit regulary. I was chuffed to bits with my little black visitor.
  18. Brilliant. Ive only ever seen one and that doesnt really count as it was very flat in the middle of the road (IoW too)
  19. Good word. Had to look it up though. There was a few isolated small colonies in these parts-think like a few escapees started way back in Woburn originally. Thought it was a mink up a tree first time I saw it 😀
  20. Because when the tank is full the boat sits more level and the sink drains 100% down the plughole. When the tank is empty the bow rises and sink is then slightly on the pee- so get a tiny puddle left on the lefthandside. Im not knocking gauges btw- just from experience gauges do sometimes lie whereas marks on the waterline rarely do..
  21. Egrets are definetly on the increase. River Trent in particular seems to have gained a good sized population. Anyone else come across one of these- quite specific to Beds- Herts I think and makes a nice change to the usual grey tree rat.
  22. And there was me thinking Emus are native..😀
  23. Im guessing it would connect to something like this (subject to it still working and then being correct resistance) https://www.asap-supplies.com/products/kus-water-level-gauge-with-stainless-bezel-black-euro-resistance-ky11004 My gauge, like many, is the line on the hull -more I can see the emptier the tank is. When the sink always puddles to the left hand side I know my tanks really empty. Never fails either..😀
  24. Certainly are. Was lucky enough to see a pair of those on the Little Ouse once. They are HUGE.
  25. Funnily enough one thing I have noticed more regulary in the last year is Herons and Egrets fishing close together which always suprises me. Think the bird that actually suprised me the most looking back at me from the Riverbank was a pair of Rheas/Emus coming down the Ouse a few weeks ago 😀
