  1. Moving this to History and Heritage. LCx
  2. Just moving this to 'Stoppages'. Hold tight please. LCx
  3. A friend of mine has one of these from 1970. When I helped with sanding down for a repaint we found the ghost of "Gordon's Pleasure Cruisers, Southam 3664" signwritten beneath the later layers of paint. If it helps this boat was originally called Ledbury, so I guess that could be crossed off your list of 'possibles'. The name was on both sides of the bow and the stern - maybe there's a telltale left under the paint on yours too? LCx
  4. I can't add anything to what others have already said about the mystery wiring and relay - it'd help to trace the wiring to work out how it's connected to the rest of the boat's systems (I suspect you're already on the case with that though). An Adverc battery management unit looks like this, it's about 6" wide ... It's possibly located somewhere midway-ish between your alternator and your batteries. LCx
  5. I gather very long trains of boats used to be taken through Harecastle tunnel. Are there any photos of these entering or emerging from the tunnel? LCx
  6. I'm taking notes ... Would I get extra points for Watford? If I start at the Old Swan I might never leave - it sounds very good. Sue, any chance you could be a teensie bit more specific? LCx
  7. ..... where's the best place to start from? LCx
  8. Hi, When I first bought my boat it had a similar leaky PRV problem as the OP describes (and a very similar layout as in the diagram), nor could I find a non-return valve either. In the end I fitted a second accumulator to the hot water outlet from the calorifier, to act as an expansion vessel. It's sited pretty much directly on top of my vertically orientated caloifier. It solved the problem. LCx

  10. I don't think anyone's yet mentioned the Wyvern hire fleet based at Linslade on the GU http://www.canalholidays.co.uk/home LCx
  11. Just corrected the typo in the thread title. LCx
  12. Agreed, there's not many of us, I've only spotted two in the last year. LCx (edit to be a bit clearer)

  17. I've seen boats with chicken coops on board on a couple of occasions, and quite a few beside people's moorings, but I've only ever seen grown up chickens, not sure if anyone rears them. I'm guessing incubators and/or heat lamps might need a fairly good and reliable electricity supply? LCx

  21. Another vote for 'Pomfret', or pinching Mr Drayke's idea, how about 'Pomfret Venturer'? LCx
