  2. How about the film the bargee! which i understand is to be released on d.v.d in march great film but full of mistakes. mike
  3. yes it is very sad that i have to sell them, but iam trying to be realistic, i have not got the money needed for the work that has to be done. so for the boats someone that has will be able to keep them going. the quote was for every thing involved in the rebottoming which also included new kelson. SIRIUS has had complete rebottoming rebuilt sturn end.
  4. yes the price i was quoted did include the chine planks
  5. depends how you look at it! the engine a lister HA2 the fact that both boats have had a lot of work done on them. so if you add the cost of the rebottoming to my price you then have two very good and historic boats for £55,000
  6. since IAN went on the market i have had to put ARCTURUS & SIRIUS up for sale due to ARCTURUS needing new bottoms, ive been quoted £25,000 not the sort of money that i have at hand. SIRIUS has been rebottomed. the boats are in good shape & i think the price of £30,000 for the pair is fair.
  7. could you put me down for a copy please i have seen the film that shows ARCTURUS but i dont have it on d.v.d can you e-mail me the order details to siriusmike@ntlworld.com thanks
  8. chance ii in the early 90s i helped take her from keysham on the river avon to harefield on the grand union via the k & a, thames & oxford canal the boat was sold sometime afer 2000 then went up to licoln. it was powered by an enfield engine & using hodgekiss cone propulsion.the hull was in very good condition.
  9. any idea where MABEL & FORGET ME NOT are nou and there condion. the last time i heard about them was in the 1990s thay where on the kennet & avon.
  10. that film was part of a vidio film, i brought a copy about 20 years ago there was 3 films on it. the clip that you pointed out was from the second film each film was about 20mins long. also on the same film shown there it also shows them going through winkwell & using the large wheel to open the swing bridge. mike
  11. If you want a share with a differance, iam offering ARCTURUS & SIRIUS a historical pair of wooden narrow boats basiclly sound but work on the bottoms of the motor boat needed hence the need to share costs. if your interested & want to know more just ask or contact me at.. siriusmike@ntlworld.com mike
  12. yes but if your not signing any declaration & you pay in cash wheres the comeback?
  13. I would do the same as you!! so where is this place?
  14. i think it was 2003 the last time that i was at the stinkhole BEATRICE was in the same place though her condition had very much deterioratd by then.
  15. if i remember it was about 1980 when the numbers first came in.
  16. i would have thought that the main reason for the low number of visitors was down to the entry fee, when so meny museums are fee. yes i have been there but quite some time ago
  17. the remains of the motor on the bank is mimas the boat in the dock is ALBERT. BEATRICE i last saw sunk up the river colne near springwell i would doubt that it could have been moved. thay all make very interesting pictures so thanks to LEO for taking them. keep them coming. mike
  18. i dont know of one now but when i use to tie up near the swan & bottle uxbridge the rank building had one just outside ideal for filling the bath with!
  19. your doing well it costs me just under £2,500 to moor the pair at the field but iam only an hour from LONDON by rail AND yes i also get a cold water tap
  20. Yes i had heard that ELECTRA went down hill after i sold her, sadly i could not keep her as my father retired from tripping on ARCTURUS AND asked me keep her with SIRIUS that was at the end of 1999. mike
  21. ray was moored just south of hunton br. mimas was on the river chess at rickmasworth. The last time i saw MIMAS & RAY thay where breasted up behind my pair ELECTRA & SIRIUS also there where FORNAX, ALBERT & ARCTURUS runing trips i think that was 1995 at the rickmanswoth canal festival. nt 100% on the year mike
  22. ARCTURUS & SIRIUS are both moored by a famers field. I pay the farmer he then pays bw end of garden, so far there has been no problems. mike
  23. thanks for that. you got a good price on the wood. the price i was given was £18 cu for opepe (its used now insted of elm) & £20 cu for oak. the share scheme, iam looking at 10 people ownership.
  24. i would be very interested to know where you get the materials from as the total cost of materials that i have been quoted is over £8,000 but i think you are right the real cost is labour
